The terrible horrible no good very bad day

Este post se titula asi ya que el día de hoy me recordó mucho a esa película llamada “Alexander and the terrible horrible no good very bad day” parece que hoy definitivamente no fue mi mejor dia, ha pasado un poco de todo y deseo que termine pronto jaja. Me levante normal, como cualquier día, con buen animo de hecho, hoy me tocaba hacer compras y aunque hacer compras se ha vuelto difícil con los precios drogadictos que hay en Venezuela, igualmente estaba algo entusiasmada ya que haría un mercado un poco mas “grande” de lo usual. El amanecer fue hermoso, tonos morados, rosas y naranjas… Realmente aprecie mucho el cielo de esta mañana y me lleno de esperanza de un buen dia.

I titled this post this way because today really reminded me of that movie called “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.” It seems like today definitely wasn’t my best day—a little bit of everything has happened, and I just want it to end soon, haha. I woke up like any other day, actually in a good mood. Today I had to go shopping, and even though shopping has become difficult with the sky-high prices in Venezuela, I was still somewhat excited because I was going to do a slightly “bigger” grocery run than usual.
The sunrise was beautiful—shades of purple, pink, and orange… I really appreciated the sky this morning, and it filled me with hope for a good day.

Lleve a mi hijo a la escuela y no se que paso hoy pero se volvió un total desastre a la hora de la entrada, tocaron la campana, los niños fueron corriendo pero no abrieron la puerta, los niños se acumularon allí y además entraron bastante tarde, me regrese a casa y sin desayunar espere la hora de la salida de mi hijo, después de buscarlo iríamos a hacer las compras. La luz se fue a las 10.30 AM, esperamos hasta las 12 y aun no llegaba la luz, tuvimos que ir por nuestro hijo a esa hora sin luz e ir a comprar la comida con la esperanza de que la luz volvería en ese trascurso de tiempo.

I took my son to school, and I don’t know what happened today, but it turned into a total mess at drop-off time. The bell rang, the kids started running, but the gate didn’t open. The kids piled up there, and they ended up getting in pretty late. I went back home and waited for my son’s dismissal time without having breakfast; after picking him up, we were going to go grocery shopping. The power went out at 10:30 a.m. We waited until noon, and the power still hadn’t come back on. We had to pick up our son at that time without power and go grocery shopping, hoping the power would come back on while we were out.

Fuimos a varios lugares a comprar y fue bastante agotador, estábamos bastante pesados, compramos muchas cosas y solo pensar en subir 14 pisos con tanto peso era terrible, pero hacerlo fue peor… Subiendo las escaleras casi me vomito ya que no había desayunado, me puse pálida y comencé a temblar, mi esposo logro subir y volver a bajar para ayudarme, No se como no me desmayé… Luego de llegar a casa me di cuenta que no tenia señal en el celular y mi esposo tampoco, aparte de eso tampoco teníamos batería ya que justamente HOY no se me ocurrió cargar el celular temprano, algo que hago todos los días y justo hoy no, parece chiste.

We went to several places to shop, and it was pretty exhausting. We were carrying a lot of stuff—we bought so many things—and just the thought of climbing 14 flights of stairs with all that weight was awful, but actually doing it was even worse… While climbing the stairs, I almost threw up because I hadn’t had breakfast; I turned pale and started shaking. My husband managed to go up and come back down to help me. I don’t know how I didn’t pass out… After we got home, I realized I had no cell service, and neither did my husband. On top of that, our phones were dead because, of all days, TODAY I didn’t think to charge my phone early—something I do every day but not today. It’s like a joke.

Por cierto, la razón de no tener luz es que sin PREVIO AVISO, sin ningún anuncio para tomar precauciones esta gente de la electricidad vino a cambiar un poste. Sin importarles la salud de las personas o si tienen comida que se pueda dañar por tantas horas que nos dejaron sin luz. 10 HORAS en total oscuridad, aun no puedo creer que ya tengo luz

By the way, the reason we lost power is that, WITHOUT ANY WARNING—and without any notice so we could take precautions—the utility workers came to replace a utility pole. They didn’t care about people’s health or whether we had food that might spoil during the many hours they left us without power. Ten hours in total darkness—I still can’t believe the power’s back on.

Para mas colmo se nos tapó una tubería en casa, tuvimos que hacer algunas reparaciones juntos que nos termino de reventar el cuerpo, ahora mismo me siento totalmente exhausta. Pareciera que todo lo malo se junto hoy y pasaba una desgracia tras otra, incluso tuve una mala experiencia con un pan que compre que me vino viejo, sinceramente ya si me pasa algo mas hoy no me extraería, solo quiero que se acabe este día.

To make matters worse, a pipe burst at home, so we had to do some repairs together that completely wore us out; right now I feel totally exhausted. It seems like everything bad happened today, with one misfortune after another—including a bad experience with some bread I bought that turned out to be stale. Honestly, if anything else happens to me today, I wouldn’t be surprised; I just want this day to be over.
