The Versatility of Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a plant I hated for a long time, since it left me with a bad experience thanks to my mom, who once gave me passion fruit juice with aloe vera because I was sick (to be honest, I don’t remember what was wrong with me back then since I was very young). I only remember how bad that juice tasted and that I almost threw up several times, and that happened again later on, but even though I don’t remember what was wrong with me, I do remember that I got much better after drinking those juices. Over time, I realized that aloe vera has many uses and is very good for different things; one of them—and my favorite—is using it on my hair, since it leaves my hair with an incredible texture and also has a consistency quite similar to shampoo.

It had been a really long time since I'd used it on my hair, but lately I've been experiencing a lot of discomfort and itching. I noticed I have a lot of dandruff, and aloe vera is great for this, so I took my aloe vera plant and cut off a few leaves. I split them open and start scraping out the gel until it becomes a sort of slimy substance, then let it drip into a container. Once I have the amount I need, I apply it to my scalp, massaging it in gently.

I leave it in my hair for 30 minutes, then I take a shower and rinse it out with water. The best part is that when you start adding water to the aloe vera, it seems to foam up and feels just like shampoo. Plus, as soon as you start washing it out, you can feel the texture of your hair change. Then you finish washing by using regular shampoo, and in my case, I follow up with a hair mask.

I can't even begin to explain how different my hair feels when I apply aloe vera—it's as if it comes back to life. It gets super soft and shiny, and it also feels really refreshing. The itching has gone down a lot, and my head feels really light. It's strange, but that's how it feels.

The downside is that when you're washing your hair, you inevitably end up tasting the aloe vera, haha, but oh well—they're necessary sacrifices. Besides being great for your hair, aloe vera has so many other amazing benefits—it helps with burns, acne, and even improves digestion—so I think we should all have an aloe vera plant in our homes.
