Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge with Going to Distance
Going to Distance
Description:
Only units with ranged attacks may be used.
Consider including units with the Close Range and Return Fire abilities in your lineup.
The Battle Ruleset
Going to Distance: Only units with ranged attacks may be used.
Five Alive: Up to five Units can be used.
This is a middle mana ruleset game and only the Fire Splinter is available to play, so for me it will be an easy choice, because I can use my favorite summoner in the Wild ranked, which is Yodin.
The Rise of the Common ruleset will reduce the monster pool little bit, because it will ban all the Epic and Legendary monsters from the battle, so the monsters will be a bit weaker than usual.
The Fab Five will take away one monster slot from both of the battle lineup, so it will be enough to pick only five monsters for the battle.
My Team Composition
Yodin Zaku is a seven mana Summoner and he is very good for this battle, because he gives one ranged attack and health to all of his friendly monsters, which is always nice and especially in the Going the Distance ruleset.
His best ability is to give the Blast ability to all of his monsters, which will makes them to damage the adjacent monsters of their target.
The Molten Ash Golem is an amazing tank for this game, because he has the Close Range ability, so he will be able to attack form the first position as well. He has a lot of health, so he will be able to take some damage before he dies.
The Ash Mirage is almost the best monster in this ruleset, because he is very fast with good stats and his Headwinds ability will decrease the ranged attack damage of the enemy monsters by one.
He will increase the chance of winning a game by a lot as long as my opponent doesn't use him as well.
I used Venari Marksrat to take advantage of his Martyr ability if he would die, which means that the two monster next to him will receive increased stats. Yodin will increase his ranged attack to two as well, which is always good.
The Tinderlock is a very special monster, because he also be able to attack from the first position, which is very important in the Going the Distance ruleset, but I used him at the back of my lineup, because he has the Last Stand ability, which means that if he will be the last friendly monster alive he will get 50% buff on all of his stats until the end of the battle.
If he would be the last monster in my team he might decide the outcome of the battle easily.
The Battle

My strategy was to try to utilise the Blast damage and plus one ranged attack damage buff from my Yodin. The battle would be easy, but my opponent had a smilar idea and wallet like me and he also rented or bought Yodin, so it will be interesting to see who is going to win this battle.
The first round started killing their Fire Elemental, because my Ash Mirage was quicker and luckily my opponent didn't bring him at all, so only my team had the Headwinds ability to reduce the ranged attack of the enemy monsters.
At the end of the first round my team killed their Molten Ash Golem, so only their squishy ranged attackers left in their team.
Luckily they started to fell into the first position one by one and they were unable to attack from there and my team managed to be victorious. 😀
Do you like Going to Distance? Why or why not?
I like to play with the ranged attack monsters especially, because I love Yodin and his gamestyle. The only reason this battle was a bit more difficult than usual is the fact that they banned all the Epic and Legendary monsters.
