The Battle Ruleset
Rise of the Commons: Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.
This is a low mana ruleset game and only three color is available to play, which is the Fire, Death and the Dragon Splinters. The Rise of the Commons ruleset is making the choice of monsters a bit more difficult, because the available pool is much smaller without the epic and legendary monsters.
There will be not allowed to use any kind of heal ability making the battle even more difficult without any sustain. 😀
My Team Composition
Thaddius Brood is a Death summoner who gives -1 magic damage and health to all the enemy monsters for only four mana, which is quite good to decrease two abiltiy from the enemy monsters.
The Cursed Windeku is one of my favorite rare Death monster, because he is the best tank for only 6 mana. He has the Thorns ability, so he will reflect two damage back to all the melee attack monsters targeting him.
The Carrion Shade is just a one mana cost filler monster, because the 22 mana was not really enough to use all the available positions with usable monsters.
The Venari Bonesmith has the Life Leech ability, so he will increase his own health with every damage he makes and if he manages to Poison his target that monster will take another 2 damage at the end of every round.
The Ravenhood Warden isone of the new reward card and I was lucky enough to pull a golden level 4 of him. He has two attack damage for four mana and he laso has the Protect ability, which will give two armor piece to all of his friendly monsters.
The Undead Priest cost only two mana, but he has at least one magic attack with the Weaken ability, which will reduce the health of the enemy monsters by one as long as he lives.
I used Creeping Ooze to slow down my opponent, because he has the Slow ability, which will reduce the speed of the enemy monsters by one.

There was not much option either Splinter and monster wise, so my opponent picked the Dragon Splinter with Quix the Devious, because he is able to decrease all my monsters ranged damage and speed by one.
The first round was quite uneventful, but luckily my Bonesmith managed to Poison his Cursed Windeku, so he took an extra two damage at the end of the round, so we had a slight advantage for the second round.
In the second round my team was a bit quicker than his and my Windeku attacked first, but his counterpart also had the Thorns ability, which killed my Windeku as well.
My opponent also brought the Ravenhood Warden to Protect his monsters with armor, but I had two magic attack monster who ignored their armor and killed their one health monsters with one shot.
My Venari Bonesmith leeched a lot of health for himself, so it was very easy to kill his last two monsters and win this battle. 😀
Do you like Rise of the Commons? Why or why not?
I like this ruleset even thought it is making much more difficult to choose the right monsters, because the pool is much smaller, but at least the smallest collection value players got more chances to win against their richer opponents.
