Relearning consistency

avatar

Hi,

I was pretty offline, or better said, pretty offchain the past days. I try to be at least 30 minutes - 1 hour active in here, but it is not going as planned in some cases. Also, my priorities shifted a lot in the past month, due to some on and off chain events.

I like to be consistent, as I think consistency is one of the biggest issues in life, where we stop building and just chase the next big thing, trend or gadget. The idea for this came from a post by @anomadsoul, which can be read in here. His post is aiming at a real issue, but turn at the end in the issue, as it lacks consistency.

Of this thing, I'm also guilty, as I've been working on some posts, and translations in the past weeks, which I still have to finish. The only thing is to make time for it.

Will try to be more active in here, to gain again the momentum had before, and if possible to post again on a daily basis, stacking the rewards up, like I've been doing in the past year. Just accumulate and increase the stake, even if it goes slowly. This consistency, will make the snowball going by itself. Learning from the backlash in the past, the plan is to have less discord and more comments, less drama and more help for the ones needed. I would say, beside stacking tokens and coins, also stacking on the growth mentality.

The guidelines I had also before, but now I will enforce them, as time is important and needs to be used wisely. I would prefer to see my boy sleep, then having an argument in discord, with people that don't matter, as for me, my boy matters.

Will keep it short today, as I'm working on a longer post, about a trip to one country that I admire a lot, which really learned me loads about consistency, grit and humbleness, where people suffered a lot, but still can stand straight. If you know which this country might be, please leave a comment below.

Also, what would be your take on consistency?

Consistency for me is about doing things at a schedule. No ifs. No buts. And personally, i set constant personal targets closely tied to my finances. Like for example Each month I want to save X amount. If I am a dollar short My next month target will now be X+1. I want to do things like clockwork. Make it part of my routine. Always reminding myself of why I do what I do.

Pay yourself first. Do you have a bigger target? Or what would you aim at?

Life happens. I don't think you need to apologize for that. I know it can be rough sometimes and the guilt is definitely there when you aren't as active on Hive as you would like to be. I have been there myself. I hope everything works out well for you!

I like it in here, and I like building in here, but there are sometimes priorities in life that i like to take care of.

For sure, I agree with you.

the question you should be asking yourself is this:

What can I do for the hive blockchain? What is my personal contribution?

...............as opposed to

stacking the rewards up, like I've been doing in the past year.

In my book that statement is extraction without any contribution. I typically discourage that.

Ok, point taken. What would you suggest? As most given the question, there might be a personal view behind it. For me, extraction would be powering down, and selling, where the last power downs, went into Hive projects, such as SPL.

This is a standard point and nothing new.

I suggest you ask yourself what exactly have you done for the community, today, yesterday, last week, last month....so on.

List.

It could be as simple as, I have given a free card delegation of a Max RW legendary to a player.

It could be also I given 500 SPS to another player to stake, or provided them with free SPS delegation.

It could be, I have helped connect this individual to the community and helped them with guidelines to get support for leo.voter.

These are random example, in no particular order.

Again...............for me, what you wrote, is extraction. Whether power down or not.

Also ask yourself, writing a 300 word post about end of season rewards or LPUD, what kind of value it adds to this blockchain. Who will read it and why and how will they benefit from it. The answer is they won't.

Also, the engagement, or lack thereof. How many comments to you get or how much you engage on your own post, who comments on your posts? Here is the answer:

As you follow me, and have already noticed that the posts about season rewards have stopped, and the LPUD post, are for awareness, as I delegate a fairly large stake to someone who does a power up, without powering down. Stake powered up keeps the tokens out of the market, be it Hive or in this case LEO.

I know what I have done since I'm here, whom I did help, being it from free card delegations to starting players in SPL, to paying full ticket to some random person to attend HiveFest at a certain point in time.

From this point of view, I'm content with what I have done. Some of them are not even known, as if it is a charity act, I like to keep it as private as possible, as from my point of view, charity shall be anonymous.

Thank you for the constructive comments and hints.

At hive no one is entitled to any rewards. Rewards are given based on net votes; up or down based on consumers. You are here from 2016 and there is not much staked powered up hive you have to show for it. This is a fact.

If your current engagement remains where it is right now, I do not feel you are entitled to any rewards. This is my personal feeling, but I am the consumer, so I get to decide, and I don't even have to explain why I decide as such.

What you have done in the past, has no bearing to me. I feel we reward past performance too much at this blockchain. Only present and future matters to me personally.

Your past performance doesn't guarantee future results :)

I think this is also a well known statement.

And I was thinking, we have a constructive discussion in here. Why does it always have to be aggressive? Why can't it stop to a constructive point, where an idea has been taken and worked on?

Maybe this is a point we all have to work on, to see how we can make this place better and thriving. Now I will go to bed, as it is closing to midnight in here. Hope that my comment is seen as food for thought. Have a good one.

"aggresive" is an opinion.

just like 'downvote' is widely considered an attack. It is NOT.

Downvote is just disagreement on rewards and it is NOT personal. I downvote people because I believe they don't deserve that reward and I redistribute it back to the reward pool. It is not personal because I am NOT taking away any money from you, as the money is not yours until day 7 at payout. Also when I downvote, I don't gain anything, other than curse words:)

Once you understand this concept, you will see that there is nothing 'agreesive' about what I do.
