Seeking negative feedback?
Hi,
in the times that we live, where people get offended by any negative tone or word, where people are brainwashed into positivity, can we have real genuine feedback?
It is a legit question, as today sincere feedback is important, even feelings might be hurt. It is better to know the truth, that we suck at some stuff or live in a bubble world of fantasy that we are perfect.
Well, I would rather have genuine feedback. It is then up to me if take the chance to improve or not, but this shall be my choice. Life is not easy and true friends who can tell some other person the truth are seldom. Most people can't even accept negative feedback, as they take it personal.
I asked my wife to tell me all the time I do something bad or where she can sees ways of improvement. I get the harsh truth on a daily basis, which in the end helps me. Of course, feedback is important to come with arguments. The better the situation is described, the easier is to find a solution for it.
It is the same when I talk to my kid. I try to explain him why we do some things and why we don't do some others. I never tell him that this is because I say so. I give arguments and pay attention that he get's at least some information of what I say.
So, do you accept and ask for negative feedback?
Accept, yes. Ask for, No.
Yes I do accept negative feedback. Sometimes better than others. :)
I've had a couple of editors in my time. That is almost always negative feedback, but almost inevitably makes the writing better.
I have trusted friends that I expect to give me negative feedback if necessary. I certainly do it for them..
I ask for them all the time and dont get enough, you may like my blog and id check it out for a follow if you want to criticizes the harshest issues in society, I do not believe in censorship, I believe in freedom and responsibility to maintain that freedom. Slaves do not to enjoy playing the victim role, because the slave is fulfilling the masters commands therefor, like any other contract, responsible for the roles they played if any human rights buses takes place.
Watching slavery happen and not reacting, is a crime in a lot of places.
