Web2 for web3

Hi,

I've had some discussions the past days between web3 and web2 maximalist, that their version is better and that people shall decide for one or the other.

Here, I see things different. I'm not a maximalist in any case, and mostly try to find the advantages of a subject, without losing sight of the disadvantages.

I think for marketing purposes, both can be combined to a high extent. Web3 is still in a very early stage, where most people hang out in web2. Web2 gives the dopamine for most people, and they are using it just to feed this addiction. If you use web2 for growth, ignoring the noise, focusing on real connection with the people.

I've seen a lot of users that promote their web3 projects in an excellent way on web2 platforms. They post daily, in an intelligent way and on the target market. They are also present in shows, podcast, and shorts, as people somehow can't keep their eyes off. I presume the conversion ratio is higher than on usual ads purchase. I even don't know which ads service let's promote web3 projects now.

Why did I say to ignore the noise? Well, you just waste time, which can be spent on other great things, like hanging out with the family, growing your business or doing some fitness training, all better than mindless scrolling.

Use these tools to your advantage, focus on the target that you want to achieve, else you become the target. Control them, or else they will control you.

People will slowly discover web3, but first, they need to be aware of web3, and the best thing is to flush it under their nose in web2. Like this, awareness is raised, and some will come to web3. Web2 is the perfect marketing for web3 I would say. It also connects other web3 users, that live in a separate field. Web3, can be a strong marketing tool, if the brand, even if known, start building. Imagine a SP500 giant, entering the chain and starting doing advertising. It would benefit more the chain at start, as people will join, but in time, also the brand, as people will know who was the first.

How about you? How do you see it?

Web3 allows people to build projects on top of each other and achieve economies of scale, which is difficult to achieve in Web2. Each online shop in Web2 is built as an island with a dedicated database of products, users, and reviews. However, social shops built on Web3 can share the user database (all users of the social blockchain), product knowledge base (all product information published on the blockchain), and even user reviews, which are posted on the blockchain with references to products.

In a way, Web3 is like open-source development, but not just for code—it also revolutionizes electronic commerce. The success of one social shop leads to the success of all other participants: more users, more product details, more reviews, more relevant content, more user connections, more sponsored rewards, and so on.

I have not been long enough as an investor on crypto but been watching from the distance for some time, it seems it has taken a very long time to get where it is rn and it was just Bitcoin because the rest of the market might be far from adoption so in that perspective Web3 could be on that same scenario, might take another 10 years to see some real adoption, Web3 looks so early and most of the platforms might be far from 100% decentralize and at the same time stable, so yeah probably best option is just to keep trucking, moving forward, deal with the bugs and instability but keep trying web3, similar to the case of Hive 😎✌️
