WEEKEND ENGAGEMENT - BUSINESS BEFORE PLEASURE

I have always been of the opinion that critical work assignments should be placed above family engagements and fun fairs. This is not to say that family engagements are not important, but when it clashes with very urgent work demands, I think that the work should come first. Especially when failure to carry out that work duty will affect your career or workplace. I think so because of the very saying that business comes before pleasure. The importance of our workplace cannot be overemphasized. From there, we earn the resources to even sustain the family and fund the family engagements and fun fairs. And I think that enough attention should be given to it too.

Also, everyone has their career goals in life, and it's very fulfilling to attain those goals. And definitely, the goals need hard work to attain them. They need sacrifices, even family pleasures, and engagements inclusive as part of the sacrifices we make to enable us attain the career height we want. Some people even have to work on Christmas day, new year and other holidays just to meet up with their work demands in pursuant of their life goals. To me, that's in order. So I belong to the school of thought that in my working years, I will give my best to my work. I will do my best to attain my set goals. And at retirement age, I can sit back to enjoy all I have labored for. I can then put pleasure first, having paid my dues.

Weekend deadline
You're behind on a project at work and it could seriously affect your career but you can make up the time on the weekend. The problem is you committed to a family function and cannot do both. Which do you do and why? Remember, doing both is not an option.

For me, I will choose to complete my project at work first. This is because this stage is a stage to build a career and put in my best at my work. And by extension, earn the resources to sort out family bills. But if I lose my job while attending a family function, even the family will feel the negative impact because money is still needed to sustain the family and make everyone happy.

So, in summary, even though the weekend is for rest, and a time to attend family functions, I won't still mind sacrificing my weekend for my work to build my career and earn the resources I need to take care of my family. In the end, the family's comfort and welfare remain the final goal, but through sacrifice and commitment to my work.
