Today, I want to present to you guys a battle that does justice to the title of the post, that would change the way you may have been playing this till now. This strategy is what I use, and have been using since the bronze leagues that landed me to Silver and Gold Leagues.

This battle is about 5 seasons old and has been sitting in the drafts section until today, when I went to clear up the untouched and unfinished work. Below is the battle conditions, pre-battle details, and major events in the gameplay. And, at the end of the post is the battle link.

Battle Conditions

The mana cap was 35. There were 5 summoners to choose from: Fire, Nature, Life, Death, and Dragon. This was a good mana region for both Fire and Water but I chose death summoner. Why? Because I have invested a bit too much in my personal favourite summoner, Thaddius Brood.

The rules of the battle are:

  • Equalizer: the initial health of all monsters is equal to that of the monster on either team with the highest base health.
  • Divine Shield: all monsters have the divine shield ability.

The rules made me give up monsters that had high battle capability but I replaced them with better, adaptable ones that would thrive here.

Pre-Battle Details

My Team

Tank: Bone Golem(Ability:Void).
Melee Attackers: Arachne Thug(Ability: Reach), Undead Badger(Ability: Sneak), Silent Sha-vi(Ability: Sneak).
Magic Casters: Venari Bonesmith(Ability: Life Leech, Poison), Ancient Lich(Ability: Life Leech).

The main objective was to attack from every position from my the deck to different monsters in the enemy deck.
The next phase was to get some monsters with high attacking potential with low HP. Monsters like Kain Hace were perfect for this kinda battles but I wanted a better, sustainable monsters, hence I used the leechers. The Ancient Lich would do damage by 3 and absorb 2 HP while the Bonesmith had the ability of poison infliction, a very handy tool in this battle’s rules. So, a total damage of 4 and a possibility of poison effect would bring it to a damage of 6 every round, to the tank.
Then, the melee attackers were in position but I opted to use Bone Golem instead of Dumacke Orc, I somehow expected the opponent to use magic attacks. Intuition? Maybe. So, that way, I get protected from magic attackers with 1 magic damage. Both the melee attackers would do a damage of 3, so an aggregate damage 6 to the tank.
Lastly, the idea with the Sneak attackers, I wanted to reduce their numbers from the back, each time they would suffer a total damage of 4 in the beginning golf the rounds since the monsters had higher speed.

Therefore, a total damage of 12 to the tank and 4 to the back.

Opponent’s Team

9 Summoner: Obsidian(Ability: additional magic damage to every ally monsters with magic affinity).
Tank(Magic User): Mycelic Slipspawn(Ability: Taunt).
Magic Casters: Khmer Princess(No Ability), Queen Mycelia(Ability: Protect), Spirit Hoarder(Ability: Triage), Goblin Psychic(Ability: Tank Heal).
Ranged Attackers: Goblic Tower(Ability: Blast).

His deck was a perfect symphony of HP preservation. All monsters(except one) had Magic attack and everyone had a role to play. His tank was the crucial part in his deck. He protected it first-hand with the Queen Mycelia as it provided shield, and then with the Goblic Psychic that healed it with HP. But, the tank in and of itself was a mistake to use, it had 10 HP. That made everyone, even my Undead Badger that had 2 base HP and my Ancient Lich that had 3 HP base, level up to 10 HP.

Major Events

Round 1

IMG_6287.jpeg

The summoner abilities and monster abilities were implemented and the battle was on. My Summoner cancelled out his summoners’s ability and had an overall decrease in HP by 1. It was started by the Silent Sha-vi and Undead Badger toward the Slipspawn. 3 of the opponent monsters could not touch my tank thanks to its ability.

IMG_6288.jpeg

Then, my Ancient Lich went into action right after the Bonesmith. The Bonesmith caused a poison affliction right off the bat.

IMG_6290.jpeg

It didn’t matter much as the Goblin healed it up quick and smooth.

Round 2

IMG_6291.jpeg

The round began with my asha-vi and Undead badger attacking again.

IMG_6293.jpeg

My Arachne Thug took it out but it was underlevelled so the trample ability was not available this time. His Khmer Princess donned the first position.

IMG_6295.jpeg

It was healed up by the Goblin so a net 0 was established while my Golem took a tiny hit.

Round 3

IMG_6296.jpeg

This time, the sneak attackers finally lived up to their actions and attacked the Goblin tower in the back. The Bonesmith gets in a clean hit on the Khmer Princess but no poison affliction.

IMG_6298.jpeg

It didn’t matter though as the goblin healed the Princess, again.

IMG_6299.jpeg

In the end, the Golem made a move and brought down the healing effect.

Round 4

IMG_6300.jpeg

The game starts again, the Sha-vi gets a clean hit on the Tower.

IMG_6301.jpeg

The game ends with a new Tank on his team. The new guy got his shield down.

  • You see, the overall damage(10 excluding the poison damage) on the enemy tank was surreal and the HP on the Leechers was going up steadily. Moreover, my attackers had higher speed, this way I was ahead in terms of turns and essentially quicker in dealing damage. But they had their Ninja and Goblin to mend those damage by the end of the rounds.

Round 5

IMG_6302.jpeg

The round begins with the sneak attackers again. They did their work quick and good. Arachne Thug went right after.

IMG_6304.jpeg

My Lich’s turn came along. It suckered in another 2 HP while committing to a damage of 3.

IMG_6306.jpeg

And finally, the Goblin, together with the Goblin Tower finished off my tank making it a 5 v 4.

Round 6

IMG_6307.jpeg

Sha-vi and Badger scratched a little HP off the Tower.

IMG_6308.jpeg

The Arachne Thug, Bonesmith, and Lich brought down another mighty adversary making it a 5 v 3.

IMG_6309.jpeg

The Spirit Hoarder was now in fist place and it healed up the Tower and Goblin did his magic on my Thug, this time the his damage output was 100%.

  • The Spirit Hoarder would heal up the Tower, the Goblin tower would do a blast damage, the Goblin Psychic would heal the Hoarder. This was where the circle of “life” for my Leechers came up. But, it was not too difficult to break given my overall attacking plan. This was how the round were from 7 to 8.

IMG_6315.jpeg

Slowly but surely, their monsters were brought to their knees in the middle of the 8th round.

IMG_6316.jpeg

Lastly, his Goblin Psychic and Goblin Tower was left. Good thing for him, his monsters took out my Arachne Thug in the last moments while healing it’s wounds.

Round 9

IMG_6318.jpeg

The round began with the Tower gone.

IMG_6320.jpeg

A massacre was inbound, you could look how my Leechers were ready to gulp in the sweet HP.

Round 10

IMG_6321.jpeg

And, after a long lasting battle, his Goblin finally threw in the towel as my ultimate Lich sucked in the last HP.

IMG_6099.png
Wisdom
The key idea was in protecting those Life Leeching monsters both from the front and the back while maintaining a high damage with high speed. That made my monsters tough to beat, especially if the opponents used Magic attacking monsters. Magic casters usually have low speed so keeping them in the middle is the best way to go about. I know many people love to keep them in the back end while letting the “useful” monsters in the from, but 7/10 times the situation would call for this “Leecher/Magic Caster Protection” strategy. Moreover, we turned the healing monsters’ efforts go to fruitful ends for me. A way to turn your opponent’s cards against them.

Thanks for sharing! - @lenonmc21

It was a good post and it looks like it was a good battle, however, you should improve the quality of the images you present, they look very blurry, on the other hand, justify the text to have more order. It was a good content, but you should keep improving. On the other hand, be more careful with the post you share in the comments, if you look at it you shared the wrong one, I went to your profile and got the most recent one.
