Killing A Traveller For The First Time | Give Me God Of War

Hello, gamers of Hive! I hope you all are doing good.

Today’s special attraction is the “Travellers” I faced on top of the Realm Towers, along with the perilous travel through Midguard and finding treasures and chests made possible by sheer will and a ton of luck.

Before we begin, let’s do a little recap.

Previously
In the previous post, I completed a huge favour for Sindri. The favour was, to fetch a whetstone from an abandoned place that was supposedly Fafnir's storeroom. The place was filled with trials and after every trial were enemies waiting to ambush us. I got to the final destination afyer braving through the "forest of death" and found that the stone was stolen by the reavers and a man was killed by his own son. That man came back as a spirit but still would not help find his son for the stone. So, we took the murder weapon and fought off the Ogres that made a surprise entrance. And, after we made to the forest, an ancient had blocked our path. The ancient's fight was something of a spectacle. But that fight is in a separate video altogether.

This Time

IMG_6323.jpeg

We started from Iron Cove, a cozy place with a lot of memories. This was one of the first places where I had completed the first side mission of freeing the trapped souls.

IMG_6324.jpeg

Just ahead was this beauty. A gate that was shut closed and Wulvers and Reavers had banded together to stop me from activating the runes.

IMG_6325.jpeg

Amazing rewards awaited me inside. Firstly, some Hacksilver.

IMG_6326.jpeg

Then, the rare gemstones like this one. This one is found only in the Iron Cove.

IMG_6328.jpeg

As I was returning from the place, I saw some contraption in the area and threw my axe toward them. Somehow, they formed a path to one of the towers nearby.

IMG_6329.jpeg

I landed on top of the place and found a guy whispering to himself, almost sounded like excited chants.

IMG_6332.jpeg

I did, what you may say, the most logical thing for a god of war to do, attack him. With full force.

IMG_6330.jpeg

His kind was called “Travellers”, wanderers of the realm. They wore hard armour and hence took significantly low damage compared to normal enemies. And then, I learned that level matters. He was level 7, 3 levels higher than me. I fought against him for 18 minutes straight until I called a tactical retreat and went off to upgrade my stuff through battles against normal enemies.

IMG_6336.jpeg

I roamed the lake of 9 until I found an unfamiliar looking island on the map. And many more had popped up since the World Serpent had decided to shift it’s weight. He was called Buri’s storeroom and it had a locked room and bells with runic seals were needed to be rung to open it. 2 of them were in the open but one of them was locked between the gates.

IMG_6337.jpeg

So, I had to clear the area first and then see what really went down here. It took me 12 minutes, multiple attempts at finished them off, with a little here and there search.

IMG_6338.jpeg

Another happy surprise came my way as I had found a treasure in this location, lying in the corner of the second floor. This material is supper rare and somehow I found it.

IMG_6339.jpeg

As it so happened, I had a treasure map from before and somehow I got to this location and found it. Crazy, and to think that the guy’s treasure was found through dumb luck was sad, if he ever got to know.

IMG_6340.jpeg

And then I got to know that the giant wheel needed to be moved to reach the other side by boat. From there I had to lift the gates down.

IMG_6341.jpeg

Then I came back from the other side and ring the bell. This was how the room was opened.

IMG_6343.jpeg

Inside was this attack move that I didn’t need, I already had a move that I had invested a lot of XP.

IMG_6344.jpeg

Throughout this all, I had accumulated an alarming amount of XP. And recently, I had been looking for such XP to upgrade my Talon bow. I used about 6k of the XP on the “son action”.

IMG_6345.jpeg

And 1500 on Shield attacking skill.

IMG_6346.jpeg

I went back to Tyr’s temple from the storeroom. From there, I checked the Treasure maps I had collected and tried to piece some info together to find a location I could go to to collect it but that seemed like hassle. So, I just set out randomly, I scanned the map for more Realm Towers that needed cleansing.

IMG_6349.jpeg

I wanted to find the one that had the traveller as I had the Rage ability and all but I came to a different one. And, there were Braziers on both sides of the tower with the names of Valkyries. With their names said out loud the braziers would light up with fire. This one had a Realm “Tear”. Don’t know what that was or how I would use it but I went to claim it anyway.

IMG_6350.jpeg

The fight lasted for 2 minutes, I made short work of them and claimed the tear. According to the information, it said that the Tears could be used to modify the properties of Talismans. I have been using the Ksavar Talisman that had the ability of realm shift us if we dodged at perfect moments.

IMG_6351.jpeg

Next, I went straight to the next island, beside Buri’s storeroom. I had remembered that ther was one path that I didn’t examine, and I was right. There was a spot through which we could climb up the cliffs.

IMG_6352.jpeg

The best way to see if we were making progress was the Dwarves’ shops.

IMG_6353.jpeg

As I browsed, I learned that that there were new Chest armour, wrist armour and waist armour and all of them were based on the Travellers’ armour. To forge it, I would need a shit ton of Traveller armour and Traveller trophy to craft the entire suit.

IMG_6354.jpeg

I moved over to the pommel section and upgraded the Curved Grip of Restoration, this one was priceless for me. With each precision throw, I was to receive a small amount of HP. Very handy against most enemies considering that I opt for Ranged attacking and the HP drain is immense in this difficult mode I’m playing in.

IMG_6355.jpeg

I kept on going up and stopped at this site. It was a beautiful view from beside the statues.

IMG_6356.jpeg

I climbed a bit further up and found a huge door. I opened it and found myself in the Court of the Valkyries. A location I didn’t think was possible to find as this one was famed throughout the game. This was where, supposedly, all the Valkyries were cursed in their physical form.

IMG_6356.jpeg

But, Kratos being Kratos, he said that this place was of little importance and he had no business there. So he uses the door to go to Brök’s Shop.

IMG_6357.jpeg

Here, Mimir tells us an interesting story. He called the Dwarves, Sindri and Brök, the huldra brother. Huldra means sprites of the forest. They were eager to make a name for themselves in their early days and to change that they made Mjölnir, Thor’s hammer. It was originally created for the benefit of the people but Thor used it in the other way, as Mimir put it. Brök and Sindri were not so happy about it as they made it a little too good.

IMG_6358.jpeg

Brök confirmed the story, he also said that their crafted weapons were famous throughout the 9 realms.

IMG_6359.jpeg

I browsed the wares and upgraded the chest armour.

IMG_6360.jpeg

Next, I sold off the artefacts I had collected and the useless Talismans.

IMG_6361.jpeg

And finally, I had upgraded the talisman that helped me realm shift, and it was not cheap!

IMG_6363.jpeg

Then, I left the tower and went on a search fin the islands again, this time it was the island on the other side of Buri’s storeroom. This one had a few nightmares as enemies and the a good chest, this one gave me a Niflheim cipher. And, more people tuned in as I progressed in the game.

IMG_6364.jpeg

I climbed up further and found another group of monsters. The fight went on for 7 minutes, I needed 2 tries to get this part done.

IMG_6365.jpeg

The Jötnar shrine showed a cool story. It was about Thor killing everyone that included a giant and his minions that had stolen the hammer.

IMG_6369.jpeg

I climbed the last cliff and found a nice looking chest that gave me nothing special, a true let down.

IMG_6370.jpeg

I met yet another traveller, this one too was muttering by himself. Also, this one looked a bit tougher than the first Traveller I had encountered in today. The comment section was firing up as they predicted yet another “suffering”.

IMG_6371.jpeg

It took me 19 minutes to finally kill it. Took me more than 15 tries to fell this beast of a man. The loot was exquisite in terms of materials but not so much in HP zone.

IMG_6372.jpeg

Mimir told us about a particular giant. This one was invited by the aesir gods to their court. Somehow, he got drunk and was cursing the gods while the gods were making fun of him. Ultimately, it was Thor who had put the drunk giant down with his hammer. He wanted to smash out the head but it smothered the head.

IMG_6373.jpeg

I went directly to the next Realm tower. This was the Muselpheim tower just behind Tyr’s Temple. This one had a realm tear.

IMG_6374.jpeg

From it, 2 heavy Draugrs spawned. Taking them down was a headache. It was easy at first glance but when I went to deal with them both, it took a few tried and a lot of patience to bring them down. It took me 10 minutes to finish them. The realm tear made the thing the battle worthwhile even though I cannot use it right away.

IMG_6375.jpeg

I used the portal door to Brok’s shop again. It was Atreus who told Mimir a tale about Baldur. Atreus said that Baldur simple showed up to their home and knocked on the door. Mimir said that it was up very unlike him.

IMG_6376.jpeg

I replenished the resurrection stone supply, at this point in the game it was a necessity. And with all the hacksilver floating about the lake of 9, 1k for a cheap resurrection stone was worth it. I didn’t need the expensive one, kinda challenging my self more by doing this.

IMG_6377.jpeg

And lastly, I finished off the gameplay by docking onto another island just beside Mispelheim. This one had one of the Ravens that spawned Nightmares, very dreadful lady. I couldn’t take her down though and decided to end the gameplay for the day.
