The Great Gulshan Escapade ~ Cuisine | Damascus Shwarma

Hello, foodies on Hive . I hope you had an amazing dinner today(it's nighttime here).

Today, I wanted to do a short review of a restaurant located in Gulshan. Its name is Damascus Shwarma, and it is in a larger shop called Sadeeq Agro. Now this place has turned famous recently due to this Shwarma and people are stacking up to get a piece of it. When my family and I arrived at noon, all the seas were filled. Fortunately, a corner seat for 4 was available and we lunged toward it.

Now, the idea of checking this place out was already told to me a week before. That way, I had enough time to prepare myself for the big chow. And, as usual, an interesting chain of events followed before I was about to go there.

Story Time

The day started as any other normal Ramadan day. I woke up at around 9 am and freshened up before leaving for varsity. After the classes ended, I went to my table tennis practice for about 2 hours before I arrived at home, barely able to walk anymore.

I played the usual phone games that I once neglected thinking that it would dull my sense of thinking but on the contrary, it kept my mind pacing and gave me a boost of concentration on the go for my studies while I would try to cool down for a shower.

After showering, it was almost go time when my uncle and grandma arrived at our home. We headed out and found the streets to be fairly empty and the Uber ride was smooth.

The Food

The adhan was heard and everyone broke their fast with a date, followed by a glass of chilled lemonade.

The first dish was a simple mix of corn, chicken, masala mixture, and a tortilla(ruti in Bengali). As a starter, this dish was not ideal for a healthy one since it has that masala mixture which, after a whole day of fasting, is not good for me at least. But, the taste it held was amazing, better than I had expected it to be. Not cold, and tender, and the corn was fresh.

This next item was the huge, amazing, beefy shwarma. This was the start of the show. A huge piece of bread filled with fillings on two separate sides. On one side, that mixture of masala beef from the doner was covered with a little mayo, and on the other side filled with a delicious cheesy mixture of normal beef.

You know which side I went for first... and boy was the bread soft even though it looked poofy and huge.

The next dish was a family dish of shwarma bites. I don't exactly remember the name of it but it was another delicacy I'd love to have every evening as a snack before I bloat out.

Presented with a drizzle of white mayo and filled with corn, fries, and lettuce these bites were hot and filled with cheesy chicken. It was worth all the wait and cost.

The next and last dish was more of a fast food. This bad boy was big as hell when compared to the recent sizes of burgers. The patty was wide and huge, covered with a layer of thick cheese and lettuce. I added pickles from the first dish's sides.

It was heavenly. The patty was properly seasoned, and black pepper and salt were "fuming" out of it. It gave me the impression that the patty was grilled atop coal. It was simply a kiss of perfection.

And lastly, my favorite part. The family time.

Not always do we find each other in the company of one another since life has been getting more and more real every day. There are days when I don't even get to see my brother and mom for 2 days since I get stuck between classes, assignments, and work let alone see my granny and uncle.

The good part about the restaurant was that it served hot and fresh food. I hope that it maintains the quality over time and does not decrease their burger sizes.
