Why Do I Have To Save THEM!? | Give Me God Of War

After such a tiresome adventure we finally get to the point where we might get a reward out of things. Such a phenomenon is what we are doing in today's episode.

Without further delay, let's start yet another long long journey.

We are in the middle of the Lake of 9.

We embark on the dock, at the golden bridge arena. The way to the other side from the bottom floor was impossible for a God Of War to cross so we headed upwards.

We saw our goal yet another time, the mountain peak, standing in all its glory.

Here, we get a jolt of shock we see Brok, inviting us over for some business proposals. Atreus was shocked more than Kratos, he asked, "How did you get here". Brok said that it was none of his business and he promptly opened the gates.

We head in and Brok tells us his plan. How his shop would be known throughout the realms and all.

He called dibs on the spot his shop was in. Frankly, it was a fine spot. Except for the heat, it looked unbearable for a commoner like myself.

He gives Kratos a piece of glowing stone. With this, Kratos can open a magic door to the branches of the world tree, a shortcut to the 9 realms.

With this, they can directly visit Brok and hence it's only a 1-way ticket from those places to here, in the cavern.
An important piece of advice from Brok: "Whatever you do, never throw yourself away from the original path".

I upgraded the Talon Quiver, this way it would recharge faster.

I crafted a curve ace pommel, which would grant runic power after successful precision throws, and upgraded it once.

I crafted an enchantment called Defiance, this little thing would reduce the cooldown by 3.

The crafting was complete and now it was time to return to our journey.

Kratos goes back to the golden bridge. On the way, there was a platform that could be used to elevate upwards and a horn was present. We couldn’t use it yet so I went back to the journey.

As he approaches the end of it he was met by some creatures that were not like the Draugrs. They wore different clothes and were a different shade of green.
P.s: This was when I went for a quick washroom break and came back 5 minutes later, the gameplay continued from 0:16:45.

After I came back and fought I learned that these ones can regain HP if left unharmed for some time.

The first time, trying to kill these creatures was successful, but alas one guy attacked me out of nowhere and dealt the finishing blow.

During the battle I learned another thing, they explode after they run out of HP. This does a significant amount of damage and has a good radius.

After a gruelling 9 minutes, I finally finished this part. This time I used the axe more, slowly damaging them before engaging in hand-to-hand combat.

The main story continues from the giant door in the centre but I decided to explore first to not miss anything. I went toward the right and got down using the pulley mechanism. This was where I saw the Nightmares again and died... non-figuratively.

Came back the second time and hacked them down with the axe. Turns out, they were guarding a Nornir Chest, and the runes were nearby but they were guarded with some hindrances. The puzzle was how to get them open simultaneously.

And this time I got an Idunn Apple, this was the 3rd Apple and so my maximum HP increased by a good margin.

I hit a dead end and decided to head back and try the other route before continuing with The Journey.

This was where we get to use the boat again only this time we were visiting small islands near the bridge called Cliffs of the Raven.

There was a dead body of a giant just laying on the shore of the island. I tried to hack at it but a new type of enemy spawned, this one could crawl underground and make a surprise attack, it could do explosive poison damage when threatened in combat.
Died there continuously, from the 35th minute to the 56th minute and I had to use spartan rage to get through this segment. In all of this time, I learned how to parry this creature, when to evade the poison explosion, and to time Atreus's arrow.

After the battle was over, a spirit near the brazier rose. Atreus was perplexed to see a spirit of the dead for the first time. The spirit warns Kratos when lighting the brazier that is located throughout the land, the hell walkers would swarm the place like moths, seeking nothing but their destruction.

It thanks Kratos as he freed them from the watery grave. The Lake of 9 is full of such graves; most spirits can move on from the land of the living but a lucky few like them get stuck in Midgard until their affairs are in order.

Kratos didn't want to save any one of them as he had a place to go to but the spirit points to the fact that he had already helped him, and how he longed to see the sky once again.

Before it went away, it gave a reward.

I hopped back on the boat and wandered again. This time I found another location called Volunder Mines.

Here, we found a magic door that was connected to the one near Brok's shop.

I had only discovered 1 other magic door so I could only travel to Brok's.

As Brok had mentioned, we should never stray away and jump onto the lake lest we decide to die. I wanted to see what would happen if I were to jump.

As Kratos jumped, Atreus shouted, “Bad idea!”. They turned into nothingness as they full further down.

Came back to our starting point. This time I we went through with the straight and narrow.

Back at Brok's.

I upgraded the Talon bow to level 2 purchasing more sills available.

I bought an enchantment of Vitality. This would give me an increase of 3.

I sold 5 masks I had found before for 5000 hacksilver, maybe it was precious.

I bought a chest armor called Reaver Tunic, it gave a decrease in strength and Luck but increased my defense. This took 5k hacksilver.

Upgraded it to level 2, this gave a +5 in defense making a total of 23 in defense.

The shopping spree had ended and I decided to explore the rest of the islands.

We went through the golden bridge and went left again where the boat was. So, we pulled the platform up and released the system to go down.

We hopped back on the boat and ventured once more looking out for the rest of the island.

Shortly afterward, I found another island called Forgotten Caverns. There was only 1 buff Draugr and 1 skinny Draugr. Died there thrice before beating them, I don’t know how but the combat isn’t that easy at all.
Like any good old father, I let the son, Atreus, take the attention of the masses while I worked from the back, slowly draining the HP of the monsters😁.

And as luck would have it, there was another Nornir Chest here. The runes were nearby and were easy to break the runes. This time I got another Idunn Apple.

There was an inscription nearby where the brazier was. Atreus read it, and instantly the walkers of hell spawned near it. This time they were ice monsters so my axe throw would not work.

The battle lasted for 19 minutes, each time I did something right I did something wrong that cost me HP. It was very frustrating when I was down to only 1 or 2 enemies but they manage to slash me in the nick of time and kill me.

The spirit was happy to be free, as usual.
Kratos and the spirit's conversation was interesting. It said that he didn't anything walk in the land except for the dead or corrupted. That there was desolation each winter and increased every time. Kratos asks how? It said, "I suspect due to the appearance of the World serpent, along with the great flood that followed. Many drowned there, and not long after that the dead started to walk". Atreus innocently asked if he had a wish of some sort. The spirit said that it only wanted to talk to someone, a wish they had already granted.

As a reward, we got an enchantment called Corrupted Remnant, a material that could be used to upgrade the Versatile Warrior's handle.

I got on the boat and went in search of the other islands. Kratos warns Atreus not to engage with the spirits, which could be an invitation to trouble.

I took this opportunity to upgrade some skills. I bought the Atreus Power I
skill, this increased his arrow and melee damage.

I bought Acrobatics, when Atreus is choking an enemy, Kratos could launch the enemy far away.
I bought the Dextrous Shot I, this would increase the fire rate of the Talon bow.
I bought Raging Ultimatum, when in spartan rage mode Kratos can perform a powerful raging smash attack that would do a wider area of damage.

I bought a Precision Throw Combo I. This would allow Kraos to do double melee damage when his axe throw hits the enemy's weak point.
I bought Frost Rush. Kratos can now perform an attack from a running motion.
I bought Grinding Storm. This is where the enemy would be locked on and the Kratos can be attacked with his axe in quick succession.
I bought Permafrost. The damage of the axe increases in and inflicts ice damage during a zero-damage run.

In total, I spent about 9k XP. And since I did shot so many skills, I’m not gonna give all the pics cuz

Moving onto the islands. After going about the snake's scales I discovered another watery land called Iron Cove. Atreus asked for permission to read the inscription and Kratos gave a G-O.
The enemies present here were Nightmares and Draugrs that could regenerate.

It took me 23 minutes to clear this place, my HP was nonexistent by the time I got to the victory. From 1:37:27 to 2:01:18, a consistent failure and death proceeded.

The spirit rose up and congratulated the duo. I said that the reavers drowned him many Winters ago. So now, he wanted to see them get what they deserved. He came to the Lake of 9 to pillage Tyrs Temple but he underestimated the severity of the desolation.

He thanked the duo for avenging his death and bid adieu. This time the reward was similar to the first one, it gave a Corrupted Remnant that could be used to upgrade the Versatile Warrior's handle.

The last place was a stagnant ship located near Iron Cove.

I scrounged up every HP stone I could find before Atreus read the inscription.

The monsters were basic ones that could throw ice balls, the battle went on from 2:04:15 to 2:14:05. Not showing any pictures of them because the quality of the pic is deteriorated if a screenshot is taken. Do watch the fight in the gameplay🙂.

The spirit rose from the dead body. It said that I came into this lake to seek refuge from the desolation but the severity was much more in this Lake of 9. It worried for its captain and crew who were underwater, still trapped, and asked Kratos if they could find them for him, in return, it would give up its family heirloom, a valuable ornament that he was wearing during his living years to Kratos.

And, as a reward for clearing the area, we got another Versatile Remnant that could be used to upgrade Warrior's handle.

This marked the end of the side quest that I didn't even know I was completing named Unfinished Business, a favor.
