A small charming medieval town

Stein am Rhein a small medieval town by the Rhine river in canton of Schafhausen, Switzerland directly on the German border, it is a very popular place for turists. When you arrive in the old town you will feel like in a fairy tale place.

The oldest buildings date back to the 15th century and are about 500 years old. The paintings always have the message and role that store nicely to present, like here below in picture a butcher store. With its well preserved old painted house facades it is a beautiful colorful charming place to visit as well as the explore the next arounding sights. When you are in the surrounding be sure to make a stop.

At about 400 m above sea level the river Rhine takes his course from Lake Constance.

Near the restaurants and bars you can relax also by the river, make a tour by bike, or take a ship. The old town is also very close from the train station in about 5-10 minutes you are here. Enjoy a walk along this unique old town atmosphere with its cobblestone streets and take a short break.

The famous town hall was built between 1539 and 1542, a popular photo shooting place. The scenes of history paintings were done by the painter Carl von Häberlin from Stuttgart and the emblems with figures by Christian Schmidt from Zurich.
