Explore Insel Ufenau
A dream small island located in the middle of the lake of Zurich only about 2.5 km from Rapperswil or 0.9 Km to Pfäffikon is one of the biggest island of Switzerland. Arrived here by ship this time from Pfäffikon let's explore the wonderful idyllic island. According to Wikipedia in south of Ufenau have been found piles from the 14th-13th century BC, prehistoric ceramic fragments, prove the presence of people, although clear evidence of settlement are missing. Already around 700 years after Christus existed here a church.
The island can only be reached by water. You can take a ship or use Ufnau's own shuttle service or privat. Of course there are also places for private boats to be moored. You will finde here a natural beauty and silence with a very good restaurant.
The island belongs to the Einsiedeln monastery. Besides a great deal of nature, vineyards, beautiful shores, a fine Restaurant, it also has a chapel and a church. The chapel of St. Martin, also called Reginlinde Chapel, is a Romanesque sacral monument.
The discovery of the principle of the camera obscura was an important impulse for the development of modern photography. This yeahr a walk in camera obscura, developed by photographer and artist Ueli Alder, allows unexpected views of the island in summer.
To this amazing view from island, oh I love every time when we are here this fresh fish crispy with a homemade sauce, very Tasty!
In 2017 the restaurant was renovated, because the peat bog landscape land cannot be rebuilt, the island was closed this time to visitors for one and a half years.
