Lucerne the heart of Switzerland

avatar

Hello dear Hiveans, I hope you are all well and are doing well, today I would like to invite you to Lucerne with its clear blue lake, snow covered mountains in background and a medieval old town as well as its wooden bridge. If you visit Zurich, you should not forget to visit the beautiful Lucerne, which is only about 55 km away. Lucerne is also called the heart of Switzerland, one of the most charming destinations in the country.
Here in the first pictures is the entry to the Chapel Bridge with the water tower one of the landmarks of Lucerne and the most photographed touristic monument in Switzerland. It is believed that the name Lucerne comes from the latin word lucerna, translated as the light.

It was unfortunately just before the rain comes ,therefore not so clear pictures, nevertheless for a short walk was well worth it because I would have to do something there on the job.

Of course is one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland with the Lake, in which is more than just bathing in summer also surfing, sailing, diving or Stand Up Paddling or a boat trip, is a very popular place also for many tourists from all over the world.

Lucerne offers the ideal setting for organizing any event. The wonderful location on the lake and the Alpine peaks that are within reach offer the ideal starting point for team events.

The present railroad station is already the third in an interesting long history. The first Lucerne station, which was built in 1856, was made of wood and was used as the terminus of a main line of the Swiss Central Railway Company. This line ran rail traffic from France and Germany via Basel and Olten to Lucerne.

A walk across the Chapel Bridge is a must, even if there were a lot of other tourists around today. The Chapel Bridge is the oldest wooden bridge in Europe, a whole 202 meters long.

Shortly more above the wooden bridge the Chapel Bridge over the Reuss river is probably also one of the most famous bridges in Switzerland, with a rich history. The wooden bridge was originally built in 1360, and the water tower is even 30 years older than the bridge.

The triangle Artwork shows an extraordinary cycle of pictures of times. On display are scenes from the Bible, the lives of the city's religious saints or the history of the country.
