Up to the fortress

A walk up and back to the city, to and from the Munot fortress in Schafhaussen, a well-known symbol from the 16th century. Located next to the Rhine Falls, in Switzerland, on a hill overlooking to the old town and the Rhine river surrounded by vineyards all around.

The small Munot bell was cast in 1589 in a workshop of Hans Frei of Kempten. It was an alarm bell, warming the population in the event of fire or enemy attacks.
