5 Minutes Freewrite: Friday Prompt - Explosion of Rage
Chris works in a road construction company as a driver. He was given the job based on his qualification which is a class "C" driver's license. The class "C" driver's license only permits him to drive motor vehicles which are less than 3 tonnes gross weight and other than motor cycle.
The company where he works was awarded the contract to tar a 20 kilometres road in one of the provinces in the country. Chris usually cheffuers his boss to supervise the progress of work in the site. He has been doing this job excellently until a certain date when he decided to do otherwise by going beyond his job description.
On that fateful day, Chris brought his boss to the site as usual and his boss alighted from the exotic car and decided to stroll and supervise the thickness of the culverts and concrete gutters being led on the road. Chris parked the car, came out and started watching the bulldozer driver doing the landscaping job. He kept watching the driver of the bulldozer with rapt attention. After a while, the bulldozer driver parked and came out to drink some water and stretch his legs but left the caterpillar steaming.
Chris, who does not have the license to drive either articulated vehicles or earth moving machines simply walked into the steaming bulldozer and started operating same. At first it was an excitement for all as other company drivers and workmen were cheering him. The bulldozer driver's attention was drawn to his caterpillar. He turned and with hands akimbo he kept watching Chris who was perfectly working with the bulldozer.
And after a while, Chris peddled wrongly and the bulldozer sped off with everyone shouting and running away from it. Dazed with fear, Chris rammed into a storey building, demolishing a part of it in the process. The bulldozer got stock and was trapped thereat. Everybody started running towards his direction to atleast save Chris' life and salvage the building. Immediately Chris was rescued and brought out of the bulldozer then came both his boss and the bulldozer driver exploding into rage and berated him as if he were a child for taking up such a huge risk. Inwardly, Chris was praying not to be sacked but he knows that this unwarranted action of his will never go unpunished.
