A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words.
Christmas
I see some nice toys, Christmas toys wraped up and about to be delivered to some waiting children. It is Christmas πβ afterall.
Diego was barely twelve when he left home for the city with his maternal uncle to learn a trade. His father had just passed away, leaving him, the mother and his fifteen year old elder sister behind. It was such a painful death. He died from intensive seizures as a result of a poorly managed wound he sustained in his right sole of his feet while farming.
Diego braced up himself to face the harsh realities of life. He knows he will soon become the breadwinner of his family; once he successfully completed his apprenticeship and begins to make money.
He resumed his learning four days after they had left his village. It was rather a tough journey. It was meant to last for two days but the bad road network, expired papers of the driver and bursted tyres all contrived to elongate their stay on the roads beyond the normal time.
Diego was diligent with learning the trade. All tasks assigned was done with joy. He found favour before his master who wasted no time to teach him the secrets of the trade. He became the envy of his peers. But he was unfazed by all.
Soon he finished and it was time to go...a free man. This was after three solid years of apprenticeship. His master rented a shop for him, as a way to encourage him start off.
It was Christmas π. Diego will be visiting home, having left about four years ago. His uncle told him that his sister had married two years after he had left home. She even has a child now. His little nephew must know that he has an uncle, Diego thought. That evening, after close of work, Diego entered a shopping mall, went straight to the children section and picked up some fine and assorted Christmas toys for the little man. Am sure he will like these, he said.
The next day, he packed his clothes and other things he had bought for the journey, including the assorted Christmas π toys for the little man and then headed to the terminal to boarded a bus to take him home.
This time, the journey took him less than twelve hours as he refused to follow the route his uncle had once taken him through. Again, the roads have improved markedly from how it used to be many years ago.
When he got home, he met his mother who looks relatively old. This cheered him a bit. Mum is still fine and strong afterall, he said. Later in the day and armed with the Christmas πβ toys he went to see his sister and the son, his nephew.

Yes, it was. The nephew was happy to seeing his big uncle; both mother and daughter were also happy seeing the son and brother too, after some years being away. Thanks for the curation. I appreciate too.
Fantastic, and keep writing.
