Culture: The Mirror of the People - My IAAC Post #52

Certain cultures exist in many places which the people adher to strictly. My clime is a culture-driven entity such that virtually everything is woven around one cultural celebration to mark it and all that.

img_0.7279478820294059.jpg

Things like the beginning of the planting season, harvest of new yam, retirement from active service, birth of a child, naming of a child, burial of a deceased, marriages, just name it, always have one ceremony or the other attached to it. Such is the culture and life of my people.

Few days ago I attended the traditional retirement ceremony of a relation and as custom demands traditional music and dancers always perform to grace the occasion.

In addition to that, one needs to use a traditional llama (ehi Igbo) to entertain the guests. These llamas are expensive as it is not always seen around unlike the other breeds.

At the end of the day I was happy to witness all these cultural festivities of my people. I know yours also have their custom. Share same in the comment section and let's rob minds together.

Thanks for reading my blog.

Wow that was very interesting to see your cultural celebrations of this event @alovely088, and also that they are being kept alive as well, we still have some cultural celebrations here too, but in general they are slowly being lost, thanks for sharing and stay safe, awesome and alive.

Thanks team alive. I appreciate. I am.also happy to know that you also have some culture over there. Most of these customs are getting eroded with the passage of time, even down here too. Westernization and all that but there are still some that have stood the rest of time such as traditional retirement and burial rites. Those ones have refuse to evolve even with the passage of time.

Greetings, my friend, the culture of a people and its traditions make it great, we can not lose our traditions, in my town we lost much of our traditions and our culture, and we are living in a time of great crisis, I think that if we were to keep our traditions we would be better off.
I love your post, and as I always say, stay !ALIVE

It is refreshing to see that some traditions are kept intact. We do have a few local ones, but most folks in the city have adapted to new ways of carrying them out. I could imagine folks in the provinces still following them. Thank you for sharing about your traditions. This post is too good so I'm also picking it out to be featured in the Alive and Thriving initiative.

Have a fantastic week ahead!

Wow, am honoured. Yes, down here customs are still observed although some now have a twist to it to suit the present day realities but some are still intact without modifications and those ones are just very few. Thanks for engaging. I appreciate.

Cultural celebrations are a great way to bring people together, thanks for sharing these photos. As you ask to share in comments, there is a festival with religious origins in my city called the Festival of Lights. Here is a link with some great photos (better than mine).

Nice to know about your culture and various celebrations in various occasions. However, entertaining the guest with ehi Igbo is quite costly I guess. I don't think everyone can afford that.

You are right buddy. Ehi Igbo is quite expensive. A celebrant may however substitute it with a local goat😄
