Larry Is Alive 02 May 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for monday, the 2nd day of May, 2024. Borussia Dortmund took a step closer to the finals of the UCL when they defeated Paris St-Germain (1-0). The second leg comes up in a fortnight in Paris.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from England. He finds out that on this day in 2015, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, the second child of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was born in London.

Still in England, Larry finds out that on this day in 1997, Tony Blair, the leader of the British Labour Party, became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, making him the youngest person to do so since 1812.

From England, Larry goes to the Philippines. He finds out that on this day in 1935, the peasants of Luzon, Philippines, took up arms against restrictive land tenancy regulations.

From the Philippines, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1803, the United States bought the Louisiana Territory from France for less than three cents per acre for 828,000 square miles (2,144,520 square kilometres), which quickly proved to be a great deal.

From the USA, Larry goes to the world of Religion. He finds out that on this day in 1611, The King James Version of the Bible was first published.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Ethiopia. He finds out that on this day in 1889, Menilek II of Ethiopia signed the Treaty of Wichale, which granted Italy territory in northern Ethiopia in exchange for money and weapons.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
