Larry Is Alive #173 October 26, 2023: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for Thursday, the 26th day of October, 2023. EPL teams had mixed fortunes yesterday during the UEFA Europa League matches. There were more wins than losses anyway. Five star Liverpool hammered their opponent Toulouse (5-1). Brighton defeated Ajax (2-0) while Olympiakos beat WestHam (2-1). In the Europa Conference League, Aston Villa defeated AZ Alkmaar away (1-4). In all, one could say that aside the WestHam game, EPL teams did well. Larry watched the Liverpool match as the Red ran riot against Toulouse. That ruthless win over French club Toulouse in Group E endured that Liverpool remain and cemented their top place in group E.

After the match, Larry turns his attention to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from South Korea. He finds out that on this day in 1979, South Korean President Park Chung Hee was assassinated by his close friend Kim Jae Kyu, head of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency, who was later sentenced to death for his actions.

From South Korea, Larry moves over to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1947, Hillary Clinton, an American lawyer and politician who served as a United States senator (2001-09) and Secretary of State (2009-13) in President Barack Obama's cabinet was born in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. She was first lady from 1993 to 2001, during the reign of her husband, Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States.

From the USA, Larry goess to Bolivia. He finds out that on this day in 1959, Evo Morales, whose full name is Juan Evo Morales Ayma, a Bolivian labour leader who served as the country's president from 2006 to 2009, was born in Isallavi, Bolivia.

From Bolivia, Larry goes to the world of music and entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 1984, the action thriller The Terminator was released in the United States; it was a major success, making actor Arnold Schwarzenegger a star and establishing director James Cameron as a bankable filmmaker.

From the world of movies and entertainment, Larry goes to the world of boxing. He finds out that on this day in 1970, after a three-year break, American boxer Muhammad Ali returned to the ring, defeating Jerry Quarry. Ali had been forbidden from boxing after refusing to be enlisted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

From boxing, Larry moves to France. He finds out that on this day in 1916, François Mitterrand, France's first socialist President, was born. He served two terms as president from 1981 to 1995.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in history from Kenya. He finds out that on this day in 1961, Uhuru Kenyatta, a Kenyan businessman and politician who served as Kenya's President from 2013 to 2022, was born in Nairobi, Kenya.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
