Larry Is Alive #174 October 27, 2023: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for friday, the 27th day of October, 2023. Only one match was played in the evening of today in the EPL. Crystal Palace hosted Totenham Hotspurs and it was a night to forget fornthe host team as Spurs continued their fine form by hitting two goals past them. Jordan Ayew got a consolation goal for Palace in the 90+4 minutes. Thr matxh ended (1-2) in favour of Spurs.

That win however moved Spurs five points clear at the top of the Premier League table. More matches will be played on Saturday and Sunday with the Manchester derby the star match of the week.

Having finished watching the match, Larry turns his attention to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from the world of exploration and discovery. He finds out that on this day in 1492, Christopher Columbus sailed to Cuba and claimed it for Spain.

From the world of exploration and discovery, Larry moves over to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1795, the United States and Spain signed the Pinckney Treaty, which granted the United States navigation rights on the Mississippi River.

From the USA, Larry goes to the world of space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 1961, the first Saturn rocket was successfully launched, and years later, the Saturn V was the launch vehicle used in the Apollo Moon-landing missions.

From space exploration, Larry goes to the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. He finds out that on this day in 1979, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, an island country located in the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean Sea, gained independence. Happy independence anniversary to them.

From Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Larry goes to the world of music and entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 2000, the music of German composer Richard Wagner, which many link with the Nazi era, was played in public for the first time in Israel at a concert near Tel Aviv.

Still in the world of music, Larry finds out that on this day in 2014, Taylor Swift, an American singer, released 1989, which she described as her first "official pop album"; it was a smash hit and won the Grammy Award for album of the year.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in history from Catalonia. He finds out that on this day in 2017, Catalonia's parliament voted to declare the area independent from Spain, prompting the central government to dismiss that legislative body and call for new elections, with the pro-independence movement winning the majority of seats.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
