Larry Is Alive #205 December 06, 2023: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for wednesday, the 6th day of December, 2023. Other matches to watch out tonight includes Aston Villa vs Manchester City by 20:25 GMT, and Sheffield United vs Liverpool by 19:30 GMT, among others. As Larry prepared to watch the showdown at Old Trafford by 20:15 GMT, he turns his attention to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Ireland. He finds out that on this day in 1921, the British government and Irish leaders Arthur Griffith, Michael Collins, and others signed the Anglo-Irish Treaty, which established the Irish Free State as an independent component of the British Commonwealth.

From Ireland, Larry goes to the world of space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 2006, NASA published photographs collected by the Mars Global Surveyor that showed the presence of water on Mars only recently.

From the world of space exploration, Larry goes to Poland. He finds out that on this day in 1917, following the Bolshevik Revolution, Finland declared itself independent of Russia.

From Finland, Larry goes to Malaysia. He finds out that on this day in 1990, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Alhaj, the first prime minister of independent Malaya (1957-63) and thereafter of Malaysia (1963-70), who was instrumental in stabilising the newly created government died in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

From Malaysia, Larry goes to Uruguay. He finds out that on this day in 2020, Tabaré Vázquez, the Uruguayan doctor and politician who served as Uruguay's President from 2005 to 2010 and again from 2015 to 2020, died in Montevideo.

From Uruguay, Larry goes to German . He finds out that on this day in 1892, Werner von Siemens, a German electrical engineer who was instrumental in the growth of the telegraph industry died in Charlottenburg, Berlin, Germany.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today from Russia. He finds out that on this day in 1878, Joseph Stalin, secretary-general of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1922-53) and premier of the Soviet state (1941-53), dictatorially governed the Soviet Union for a quarter-century and developed it into a significant world power, was born in Georgia, Russian Empire.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
