Larry Is Alive #212 December 16, 2023: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for saturday, the 16th day of December, 2023. Exciting matches were played today in the EPL. In one of such fixtures, champions Manchester City played against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium. They were cruising to (2-0) victory when suddenly Palace woke up and struck with just fourteen minutes to regilationr time. City never knew that more dramas were on the way. In the 95th minutes, City conceded a penalty which Palace palayer Michael Olise perfectly executed and slotted home to deny City of the victory they thought they had earlier gotten. It ended in a (2-2) draw.

Similarly, Chelsea won (2-0) against Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge while Newcastle United, coming back from their champions league exit hammered Fulham (3-0). Bournemouth vs Luton was was abandoned after the host team's captain Tom Lockyer collapsed on the pitch with the sides level at 1-1. Larry then turns his attention to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1773, American colonists disguised as Mohawk Indians hurled 342 chests of tea belonging to the British East India Company into Boston Harbour in protest of a tea tax.

From the USA, Larry goes to Pakistan. He finds out that on this day in 2014, members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, the Pakistani branch of the Taliban, attacked a school in Peshawar, killing 150 people, at least 134 of them were children.

From Pakistan, Larry goes to the world of movies and entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 2009, Avatar, a science-fiction thriller directed by James Cameron, was released internationally and went on to earn over $2.7 billion in revenue worldwide.

From the world of movies and entertainment, Larry goes to Italy. He finds out that on this day in 1631, a huge eruption of Mount Vesuvius killed more than 3,000 people.

From Italy, Larry goes to South Korea. He finds out that on this day in 1598, Yi Sun-shin, a Korean admiral and national hero whose naval successes helped thwart Japanese invasions of Korea in the 1590s passed on.

From South Korea, Larry goes to the India. He finds out that on this day in 1790, Leopold I, Belgium's first monarch (1831-65), helped build the country's new parliamentary system while strictly maintaining Belgian neutrality as a key figure in European diplomacy was born in born in Coburg, Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld [Germany].

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today from the old Yugoslavia. He finds out that on this day in 1888, Alexander I, monarch of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes (191921-29) and Yugoslavia (1929-34), who fought to unite his politically and ethnically divided collection of nations into a unified state was born in Cetinje, Montenegro.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
