Larry Is Alive 29 April 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for monday, the 29th day of April, 2024. Manchester City is now the favourite to win the EPL after winning Nothingham Forest by (0-2). They are just one point behind Arsenal with a game in hand.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from England. He finds out that on this day in 2011, Prince William of Wales, the second in line to the British throne, married his longtime fiancée, Catherine Middleton, in a magnificent ceremony televised to millions of television viewers.

From England, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1992, riots broke out in Los Angeles following the acquittal of four white Los Angeles police officers in a highly publicised trial over the 1991 beating of Rodney King, a black motorist who resisted arrest.

From the USA, Larry goes to Bangladesh. He finds out that on this day in 1991, a tropical cyclone devastated Bangladesh, killing an estimated 140,000 people and leaving 10 million homeless.

From Bangladesh, Larry goes to the events of WW1. He finds out that on this day in 1916, during World War I, approximately 10,000 British forces surrendered to Ottoman Turks in Al-Kūt, Iraq, after a five-month siege.

From the events of WW1, Larry goes to Japan. He finds out that on this day in 1969, Hirohito was the Emperor of Japan from 1926 until his death in 1989. He was the longest reigning monarch in Japanese history.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1938, Bernie Madoff, an American hedge-fund manager and former chairman of the NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) stock exchange.was born in Queens, New York, U.S.A.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
