Larry Is Alive 9 April 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for tuesday, the 9th day of April, 2024. The UCL take centre stage today and tomorrow with exciting quarter final matches. Tonight Real Madrid host holders Manchester City at the Bernabeu while Arsenal play host to German champions Bayern Munich.

It was a night of draws really as both matches ended in a thrilling draws. Madrid played a (3-3) draw with City while Arsenal also held the Germans to a (2-2) draw. These results have made the return legs to be filled with expectations as to who'll finally progress to the semis. Wishing the teams goodluck in their next matches.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Iraq. He finds out that on this day in 2003, Baghdad fell to US-led forces, six weeks after the Iraq War began, a conflict launched to depose Iraqi President Saddam Hussein over his alleged possession of weapons of mass destruction.

From Iraq, Larry goes to England. He finds out that on this day in 2005, Charles, Prince of Wales, the first in line to the British throne, married Camilla Parker Bowles.

From England, Larry goes to the world of aviation. He finds out that on this day in 2001, American Airlines finalised its acquisition of Trans World Airlines, becoming the world's largest airline.

From the world of aviation, Larry goes to exploration and discoveries. He finds out that on this day in 1682, René-Robert Cavelier, sieur (lord) de La Salle, claimed the Mississippi River basin for France, naming it Louisiana.

From the world of exploration and discoveries, Larry goes to Canada. He finds out that on this day in 1971, Jacques Villeneuve is a Canadian race car driver who became the first Canadian to win the Indianapolis 500 in 1995 and the youngest winner of the IndyCar championship, was born in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from England. He finds out that on this day in 2021, Philip, duke of Edinburgh, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom died in Windsor Castle, England.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
