Larry Is Alive February 27, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for tuesday, the 27th day of February, 2024. It was a night to forget for Luton as Erling Haaland scored five in a classic display of finishing as cup holders Manchester City whitewashed them (2-6) to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.

In the other match of the day, Newcastle United had tks rely on penalty kicks to win over Blackburn Rovers (4-3) on penalties to advance. The game had ended (1-1) after regulation time.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Chile. He finds out that on this day in 2010, a magnitude-8.8 earthquake rocked Chile, causing severe damage and creating a tsunami that destroyed coastal towns; it was the most violent earthquake to hit the region since 1960.

From Chile, Larry goes to Saint Kitts and Nevis. He finds out that on this day in 1967, Saint Kitts and Nevis (together with Anguilla) became an independent state associated with the United Kingdom.

From Saint Kitts and Nevis, Larry goes to Germany. He finds out that on this day in 1933, the Reichstag (parliament) building in Berlin caught fire, marking the beginning of the Nazi dictatorship.

From Germany, Larry goes to Russia. He finds out that on this day in 1936, Ivan Pavlov, a Russian physiologist, best known for developing the notion of the conditioned reflex, died in Leningrad [now St. Petersburg] Russian.

From Russia, Larry goes to Austria. He finds out that on this day in 1989, Konrad Lorenz, an Austrian zoologist, founder of modern ethology, which is the study of animal behaviour using comparative zoological methodologies, in Altenburg.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Turkey. He finds out that on this day in 2011, Necmettin Erbakan, a Turkish politician whose time as Turkey's first Islamist Prime Minister (1996-97) came to an abrupt end amid claims that he was aiming to undermine the country's secular constitution.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
