Greetings my beautiful community, here we continue with preparations to receive Christmas, just a week almost to Christmas Eve.

I will hasten to share with you what has happened to me this year, and since last year when I wanted to paint my house, it turns out that last year I was very happy to choose the color of the paint.

It turns out that last year I very happily chose the color of the paint and went out and bought it myself.

I was inspired to radically change the tones of the walls of my house that have been totally white for 10 years.

That inspiration was undoubtedly focused on transforming the tones to a palette between coral and turquoise. You can see some pictures of my search on Pinterest around this palette.

I don't know if it's crazy to go to the extreme of wanting to see your house in colors that match your personal brand, but I took a risk in my infatuation with those colors and as if the house was mine alone so I searched for my paint.

I remember that day I couldn't find the shade between turquoise and aqua green and I only bought a gallon of coral and a gallon of white paint.

This was in December last year, but as I told you in my previous post about the coating of some walls, my husband did not want to paint because of the deterioration of some areas, first it had to be repaired.

The paint spent the year in storage, finally, we just got the repairs done and it was time to paint.

Resulta que el año pasado yo muy contenta escogí el color de la pintura y fui yo misma y la compré.

Me inspiré en cambiar radicalmente los tonos de las paredes de mi casa que tienen 10 años siendo totalmente blancas.

Esa inspiración estaba indudablemente enfocada en transformar las tonalidades a una paleta entre colores coral y turquesa. Pueden ver algunas fotografías de mi búsqueda en Pinterest en torno a esta paleta.

No sé si es una locura llegar al extremo de querer ver tu casa en colores iguales a los de tu marca personal, pero yo me arriesgué en mi enamoramiento con esos colores y como si la casa fuera mía sola así busque mi pintura.

Recuerdo que ese día no encontré la tonalidad entre turquesa y verde agua y solo compré un galón de pintura color coral y una blanca.

Esto fue en diciembre del año pasado, pero como ya les conté en mi post anterior sobre el revestimiento de algunas paredes, mi esposo no quería pintar por el deterioro de algunas zonas, primero había que reparar.

La pintura se pasó el año guardada, finalmente, acabamos de lograr las reparaciones y llegó la hora de pintar.

I just told you that I chose the coral color right, the anecdote I have is that once the first wall was painted all family members passing by said "orange color" and this infuriated me to the extreme 😼😤.

A little indignant and accepting that the color doesn't look the shade I dreamed of I decided to write to my cousin and comadre Roxana who is an architect, she is in Bordeaux, France and I had to put up with both of us being on a convenient schedule.

Roxana's advice is incredible, she made me get attached to the color again, because aha, it was already bought and painted.

Les acabo de decir que escogí el color coral cierto, la anécdota que tengo es que una vez pintada la primera pared todos los miembros de la familia al pasar por allí decían "color naranja" y esto me enfurecía al extremo 😼😤.

No es naranja, es color "coral". Ustedes qué color ven allí?

Un poco indignada y aceptando que el color no se ve del tono soñado decidí escribirle a mi prima y comadre Roxana que es arquitecta, ella está en Burdeos, Francia y me tuve que aguantar a que ambas estuviéramos en un horario conveniente.

Los consejos de Roxana son increíbles, me hizo volver a encariñarme con el color, porque ajá, ya estaba comprado y pintado.

Although she stopped me from using it the entire length of the room, she recommended reserving the last wall for an ochre color to match the floor tile, although seeing how strong the other wall was, she went down from ochre to several softer tones in that range of earth tones.

Here you can see the palettes she shared with me, she started to compose the new combination that she would recommend.

But when we went to buy the missing paint we had to send it to Ferretotal to prepare it because it was not available, and the worst thing is that they did not have the precise base to prepare what we needed. So the color was a little softer still.

I haven't written to Roxana yet to let her know how everything is going, I think she will find out through this post. By the way, I highly recommend her and her company Dessamble, she is wonderful.

Aunque me frenó para no utilizarlo a todo lo largo de la sala, me recomendó reservar la última pared para un color ocre que hiciera juego con el mosaico del piso, aunque al ver lo fuerte de la otra pared, bajó de ocre a varios tonos más suaves en esa gama de tierras.

Aquí pueden ver las paletas que me compartió, ella entre sus materiales se puso a componer la combinación nueva que me recomendaría.

Pero cuando fuimos a comprar esa pintura faltante teníamos que mandarla a preparar porque en Ferretotal no estaba disponible, y lo peor es que tampoco tenían la base precisa para preparar lo que necesitábamos. Total que el color quedó un poco más suave aún.

Aún no le he escrito a Roxana para adelantarle cómo va todo, creo que se va a enterar por este post. Por cierto que se las recomiendo, ella con su empresa Dessamble es maravillosa.

Another advice I asked her for was about the decision to not remove a medium height wall that we have dividing the living room, one of its sides had an internal garden. She recommended me to leave it because she thought it was interesting and that it could help me to prepare a work space there.

I was convinced with all her recommendations and we are trying to follow them to the letter ( well, although already the second painting is not the exact one 🫣) she also saved me from a madness I was going to commit, because, looking for the painting to really be coral as I dreamed it I thought of mixing it with white and she explained to me that I would not achieve it that way.

Another step we need to take in the future is to do a fondness to the staircase by bringing the darkness down to the color of the wood, especially the one underneath it.

How lucky I am to have a first cousin and architect comadre. Thank you Roxi for existing.

We have the goal that in two days everything will be painted and we can finish the Christmas decoration, these will be the first pictures you will see of everything ready, then I will adapt the decoration to elements with the marine tones I told you about, it will be little by little because I don't have anything of that color.

Be honest: do you see orange or coral? I'm not going to bother about that anymore because I'm already happy with how it's turning out.

Otra asesoría que le pedí fue sobre la decisión de tirar o no tirar un muro de altura media que tenemos dividiendo la sala, de uno de sus lados tenía un jardín interno. Ella me recomendó dejarlo porque le pareció interesante y que me podía ayudar a preparar allí un espacio de trabajo.

Me quedé convencida con todas sus recomendaciones y estamos tratando de seguirlas al pie de la letra ( bueno, aunque ya la segunda pintura no es la exacta 🫣) también me salvó de una locura que iba a cometer, porque, buscando que la pintura realmente fuera coral como la soñaba pensé mezclarla con blanco y ella me explicó que no lo lograría así.

Otro paso que debemos dar en el futuro es hacer un cariño a la escalera bajando la oscuridad al color de la madera, sobre todo a la que se encuentra debajo de ella.

Que suerte tengo de tener una prima hermana y comadre arquitecta. Gracias Roxi por existir.

Tenemos la meta de que en dos días ya esté todo pintado y podamos finalizar la decoración de navidad, serán las primeras fotos que verán de todo listo, luego iré adaptando la decoración a elementos con los tonos marinos que les comenté, será poco a poco porque no tengo nada de ese color.

Sean sinceros: ven naranja o ven coral? Ya no me voy a molestar por eso porque ya estoy feliz en cómo va quedando.
