App that makes me lose track of time

Greetings everyone. The digital age we find ourselves in have most people glued to their phones daily especially the youth. The rise of social media and other applications have different effects on people. The country I find myself in, social media has really helped in a lot of areas.
For one, the situation of things in the country can lead a lot of people to depression but just a few scrolls on a social media app can make one easily forget what they are going through at that moment. I visit a lot of apps on my phone on a daily basis. There are some which I just can't do without, apps like my WhatsApp application which I visit each day.
I am more of a texting person than a calling person, and WhatsApp is an application that I find more convenient when it comes to texting among every other social media platforms. I also cannot do without visiting my browser on a daily. The browser I usually use is the Chrome browser. I use it for a lot of things. For one, I use it to make posts on hive because I post literally everyday on the platform.
But when it comes to the application that once I open it I lose track of how time goes is YouTube. I might want to visit YouTube for a particular reason or to check out something and once I finish watching the video concerning it I end up seeing other related videos and that is just how I keep watching them continuously and I just keep on seeing more things that draws my attention.

Most of the time, just by opening the application I'm already seeing things of interest to me based on how the system has mastered my areas of interest due to my search history and when I begin watching them I might end up deviating and even forgetting what brought me to the app in the first place.
YouTube is an application that I really love and I'm glad about the invention. It is very educative. It is probably one of the most educative apps on the mobile phone that I have come across. Most times if I want to get complete understanding or knowledge about a certain thing YouTube is my go to app. It's started right from secondary school.
The subjects that made me begin to visit YouTube often was Chemistry. I remember my years in senior secondary school, chemistry was one of the subjects that gave me really tough time comprehending even when I tried my best to pay maximum attention to the teacher when teaching went on even read books concerning the subject I still had a very tough time comprehending some topics in the subject.
Then a friend of mine recommended YouTube to me and when I checked it out it was a whole new different experience for me. The topics that I was having trouble with suddenly started becoming clearer and understandable to me. Since then when I had troubles academically and the classroom could not come to my aid the online School I would visit was YouTube.
When watching reels on other social media platforms like Facebook and tiktok I'm likely not to spend anything more than 3 minutes on a particular reel but when it comes to YouTube I can spend as much as 15 minutes or even more on a particular video. That's just how I am when it comes to YouTube. It is indeed an amazing app for me.
