A VERY CLOSE SHAVE - A Mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 2034.
The students boarded the school bus and zoomed of to the Delmont resort, venue for this year's freshers' picnic. There was a joyous mood among the students. Most had partied a night before and we're feeling tipsy. Such is the life of caged children who suddenly discovered their freedom!
The driver reached out and collected his own bottle of alcohol and the buzz continued. He was also speeding. Loud music could be heard by those standing beside the road and even passersby. The whole thing liked chaotic. No one was actually in control.
Unknown to the driver that the amber colour had few seconds to turn red, he sped off to beat the traffic. He was obviously tipsy. It turned red suddenly and with that speed he almost ran into a waiting tipper. It was indeed a very close shave. Everybody was jolted with drinks and cellphones falling here and there. Fortunately, nothing bad happened and that was an eye opener to all, the driver inclusive.
He pulled over to the other side of the road and switched off the ignition. He then used a cold bottled water and washed his face, said his rosary, looked at all the students who were dumbfounded and then switched on the engine. This time he was moving at 60km/h and no more drinks.
This is my entry to the @daily.prompt's publishing of @mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt: "A closed shave"
