A Journey by Train

In my mind there are so many memories of train travel belonging to my childhood and adolescent years. Actually, the home of my maternal grandparents was in another city so we would go there during our summer vacations.
When we were younger we would go every year for a longer time like a month or more. As we grew older, our trip became shorter and would be after a longer gap. That’s how my mother gave sacrifice for our education and other needs.
As young kids, we used to be very excited for the trip. My grandparents’ house was so big with a park and wide courtyard where we would play freely with our cousins.
Travelling by train is fun when you are with your family or friends. We would prepare for the journey many days ago. We would buy some snacks, biscuits, chocolates etc. We would take Ludo or card games to pass time in the journey.
Passing through green fields, the sight of sun rise and sun set is mesmerising. During train travel I often felt the originality of the day and the night. Something we miss in the city life Where the day and the night are equally bright. The darkness of the night view outside the train window would make me experience a strange kind of tranquillity. The light brought by the sun would make me feel the freshness and joy the light holds.
While there are so many good memories, there are some not so good too. Such incidents stick to mind more tightly, don’t they? Hehe. Let me share with you a travelling experience that was troublesome since the beginning till the end.
My father was always time conscious. Whenever we had to go somewhere we would leave on time. However, when something bad has to happen it find its way. The time of the train's departure written on the ticket was read incorrectly. It was 3:00 pm originally and we thought it was 3:30 pm so we left for the station accordingly.
We were sitting in the cab when my brother asked my father to show him the tickets and there he said the departure time was 3:00. Oooops! We were late. We asked the cab driver to rush. He did his level best. Amazingly, whichever signal we came across it had red light 😬. Despite the driver’s effort, we were getting late.
When we reached the station, it was the about time. The train had blown the first whistle and it was on the second platform. We rushed to cross the pedestrian bridge. Running with luggage wasn’t easy.
There was no time to locate the booked bogie number. We get on the nearest one. The train had already started moving. Thankfully we didn’t miss it or it would be a great financial loss.
The next thing that went wrong was the longer hours of the travelling time. The journey would usually take 18 hours. That particular day, it took 23 hours for the train to reach its destination. The train had paused many times on its way. The length of the travelling time made us tired.
There happened another unusual incident. Most of the time we had travelled by the trains of which the last destination would be our destination. That day we were travelling by a train that had to go further at other stops. So we had relatively shorter time to get off the train.
When we reached our destination and tried to get off the vehicle, the new travellers started getting on the train without waiting for the departees to get off. Consequently the aisle was jammed. My hand slipped from my mom’s hand. We were parted.
There were only few minutes left for the train to leave the station and we were struggling to get off it. It was an arduous task to get of the crowd crush. Huuuuh! We were really tired.
Anyways, the journey ended. We went to our grandma’s home, took rest and got ready for our adventures.
That’s how life is. Nothing is permanent. Be it good or bad, it passes.

Hello there, friend. We share similar memories. During my childhood days, my mom, brother and I loved traveling by train. Every holiday, we travel by train to visit my grandmother. Although traveling by train is (well, it was back then) cheaper, it was so fast. But, we enjoyed it because it was fun. Gone are those good and sweet days. We stopped traveling by train ever since we heard of a train hijack that happened in my country.
The prices havevgone sooo high here too.
That was just one incident. Life goes on. We cannot stop living for the fear of dying one day.
Thanks for stopping by
Despite the hurdles I'm glad you got to your destination unscathed. Travelling by train is fun, I can testify to that. Nice writeup 👍
Thankfully we reached our destination 😊

For me, the train journey is moderately safe compared to other types of journeys. 23 hours journey is indeed a long journey and it's natural to get tired. I have never done so long a journey as well as I can remember. The most important thing is that you didn't miss the train even if you were late😅.

Thank God we caught the train. Else it would be very difficult to travel without booked seats.

i hate this haha i feel like thats kind of dumb especially if the inside is packed full. it doesn't make sense to get on before letting people get off. I feel like this same thing applies to elevators normally u let people go out first so not sure why people went in your case O.O. I rarely ever saw this happen in Malaysia LRT/MRT which is kind of like a trainn.
It's seriously dumb but perhaps people are deaf to understand the dumbness 🤨
It is quite unfortunate and I feel really embarrassed when I think of the reason behind this why. Actually, my nation need to learn discipline in general. Be it standing in a queue or getting on the train.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are doing well
o.o ya it is dumb
That's sad to see hopefully u can help change that for your nation!
You're welcome i am doing well ;3
I wish I can. I can control my actions and guide me kids well. So that I do
yes and guide others and their kids and everybody and they will do for another few people and done
Right. Chain making
you got this!
It is still my fantasy to have journey like you elaborated above…watching sun through window…letting air pass through your…reading books…just looking and observing people and getting dispersed in one’s own thoughts……ahhh another level solace🔥
Well well but i will not like to have an ardous experience like yours…i.e getting late or getting away from companion/luggage.
Haven't you travelled by train yet?
Nobody would like. Hehe
wow I am surprised in your city, your night is like day. Maybe it is because I have not really lived in the city before. Do you have constant power there?
I have never travelled on a train before, I would like to know how it feels.
Well, I linked a post with the title. In the post I had written about the effects of civilization brought by electricity.
We don't have constant power here but light pollution is a thing that sustains without constant power too.
My city, Karachi, is one of the biggest cities of the world. If there is power outage in one area, the other areas have the supply.
It is really nice to see you on my post @starstrings01. Hope you are doing well 😊

I love that spirit. I have never been on train and I love to experience it someday.
But being with family makes it more fun. I hope I get to travel with my family too someday.
Thank you for sharing. #dreemerforlife

Well, it depends on the service quality too. As I have heard, Japanese trains move like a plane
Hmmm smooth and plain. How does some train move different from the Japanese once. I do see it in moves and notice it is rough ad noising when moving
Yeah, they are grh grh grh. For the next few days you still fileel like sitting in train
Hmmmm i would love to try out that kinda train someday 😁
😄
