Mini Lathe Amateur, Episode 12, 2 New Accessories

avatar

Hello, hivers!

Here's my new episode of Mini Lathe Amateur!

In this episode, I talk about 2 new accessories that I recently bought for my Harbor Freight 7 X 10 mini lathe. These 2 accessories are a carriage stop and a carriage lock.

The carriage is the assembly that rides on the lathe bed and has the cutting tool holder. The carriage travels away from or toward the lathe chuck, and carries the tool holder on what is called the cross slide. The cross slide is used to adjust the cutting tool inward or outward for cutting the piece of metal that is held in the chuck of the lathe.

The cross slide stop is used to set a position for cutting along a piece of metal so that the cutting tool is brought to the same spot every time to start the cut. This takes the guess work out of the process of starting the the cut in the exact place that you want to start it.

The carriage lock is used when you want to lock the carriage in place so that it won't move while you're using the cross slide to cut the end of a piece that you're working on.

Here is my video for episode 12. This video is almost 12 minutes long.

Thanks for checking out this episode of Mini Lathe Amateur! I hope you found it interesting.
