BE GOOD TO PEOPLE WHILE THEY ARE STILL HERE.

I wrote earlier about losing my grandmother and how relieved I was that i was in contant with her till her last days.

Her passing away brought many grievancies and controversies in the family. One section of the family pointed accusing fingers to another section of the family for not showing grandma needed affection while she was still alive.

We all know how the death and burial of a relative was prone to bring the whole family together right? After which everyone will go back to their destination and await the next burial.

This Got me Thinking ; Do we really have to wait till the person is no more before showing up or Showering praises to the person?

Sometimes we are quick and more comfortable to type RIP and write amazing stuffs about a dead relation than picking up a phone and actually giving that person a call when the person is alive.

Today , I watched in utter bewilderment as a friend of mine bought all sort of drinks beer, wine, liquor, soda in preparation for his late brother's burial. Those drinks is what the dead man didn't get to enjoy while he was alive and now guests are going to be drinking it on his burial day.

I have watched one's parents stay in old dilapidated house all though their life and the house got refurbished when they died and this was just to impress guests that were coming for the burial.

Well I can't say for other countries but burial in the southeastern part of Nigeria will have you wondering if it was a festival of food and drinks.

Most times the money spent on that day is more than what was needed to keep the person alive but people out of their nonchalant attitude oftentimes neglect to reach out and when the person passes on, they wouldn't mind travelling a thousand miles to say their final goodbye.

This is a clarion call to the living to take care of themselves and do what makes them happy.

Eat what you want and travel as long as you can afford it.

if you know how fast people move on without you then you will make yourself a priority

My cousin sister told me few days ago that during her father in law's burial there was so much food that one can see fish as big as a new born baby.

That was sarcasm ofcourse

But the message was crystal clear.

There is nothing wrong in giving your loved ones a lavishing burial but just make sure that you lavished them greatly when they were still alive.

Thank You for reading through

You are right dear. I believe in extending a helping hand to people while they are still alive and not the other way round!
