MY TRAFFIC TROUBLE

Believe me hive learners it's never easy to live in the city where I am living right now all thanks to the traffic trouble associated with it.

Lagos, Nigeria is popularly known for just two things. The enormous revenue it generates for the country and it's traffic troubles .

I don't get to makeup in the house again while going to work because i and many other women prefer to rush out early and make up in the traffic just so we will get to work on time because there is no avoiding the traffic. Making-up is not the only thing we do in the traffic, we also eat breakfast in the traffic.

Do you know that at 2am in the morning some people would still be held up in traffic going back to their various house?

How then will they get enough sleep?

That was the first question I asked knowing fully well that these same people will be out on the road again as early as 5am in a bid to beat the early morning traffic.

No wonder the popular saying that Lagosians are suffering and smiling

The one experience that broke my heart and changed my travel plan for life is seven years ago when I was carrying my first baby. I was in my second trimester and was supposed to travel with my brother back to lagos after attending a wedding ceremony in the Eastern part of the country.

Getting to the airport, all were already booked and no flight going to Lagos again. One of my friends that works at the airport was able to get just one seat for us. My brother decided to take the road while I fly.

The flight from the east to lagos was a 45 minutes flight and going by road was supposed to take six to seven hours.

When my flight landed in Lagos, I called my brother and he told me that they were still in Benin City. It was 7pm and according to my calculations he would get to lagos by 10:30pm or 11pm.

I booked an uber and headed home to lagos Island. This was supposed to be an hour journey but Traffic happened.

The supposed one hour ride to Lagos Island turned out to be four hours. Believe me I was mad, hungry and want nothing to do with Lagos state again. Ten minutes after I got home, my brother was at the door knocking.

What then did I achieve by taking flight? I should have followed my brother and save some money atleast

Their bus entered Lagos from Ijebuode while the airport was situated at ikeja so entering into the city's traffic and many other ones was unavoidable.

IS IT THE MAD TRAFFIC DURING MY NEIGHBOUR'S WEDDING DAY?

Imagine leaving your house with your children to a wedding. Yoruba wedding for that matyer. So you can imagine the fun that was ahead of us only to enter into a terriable and frustrating traffic twenty minutes.

It was so serious that we were stuck for four hours with no movement. Not even an inch. The kids got hungry and I have to buy snacks and water for them all thanks to the people selling in the traffic.

By the time the traffic started moving it was 6pm. I have to turn back in the nearest junction and head back to the house.

Infact in Nigeria when you think of traffic, Lagos comes to mind

Yes it's that bad

THIS IS MY ENTRY TO THE HIVE LEARNERS CONTEST " TRAFFIC TROUBLE " I HOPE YOU ENJOYED READING THIS PIECE AS MUCH AS I ENJOYED WRITING IT

Surely that most frustrating thing is traffic jam and traffic jam is like the sea of vehicles that you have to dive into.
