A Sneak Peek To My Fashion Journey.

Hello Needleworkers.

It's a new week and a very exciting one for me because I took a little moment to reflect on my fashion journey so far.

Ever heard the adage "Never despise the days of humble beginnings?"

Well, yes that's where everyone's success story began. Nobody woke up rich or successful without having to put in the work from scratch.

While I was flipping through my archive this morning, I stumbled on my "humble beginnings" and I paused for a moment.

I wanted to see how far I had grown, so I began to dig through my archives in search of more details about how I started from scratch and how far I've come.

When I completed my apprenticeship, I began to sew in my room😃😃, I had nothing except just one sewing machine my mom bought for me while I was tender.

I began to use the hangers in my wardrobe to advertise my handiwork as seen in this picture.

I remember making this outfit for a student who just completed high school and this outfit was her graduation dress then.

I sewed every piece with love and I did it with all of my heart, even though I had a bad camera quality at that moment, I wasn't ashamed of myself, I ensured I took pictures of her so that I could post it on Facebook to draw more clients.

And it worked, through this one act of awareness, a person reached out to me on WhatsApp that she wanted me to make a dress for her for a wedding and I was excited.

And yet again, after making the dress, I still advertised it using just a hanger.

I kept saying consistent and showing up and I had it in mind to save up to get any kind of mannequin that was affordable.

Well, the dress came out looking lovely and this client brought in more clients which hastened my ability to buy the half-body mannequin.

Then I graduated from using hangers to advertising my work on a half-body mannequin which I would place on the balcony of my house, I hung it on a wall and kept sewing.

People would steal glances at it and stop by to ask who made the outfits and I began to gain more attention and more clients until I was able to buy some atheistic to decorate my new office and then bought a full-body mannequin.

Although I've not gotten to where I want to be, but when I look back at how far I've come, i am really motivated to keep going and keep documenting every process of this journey.

One thing I know is, money begets money which means we spend money to get more money.

I spent a lot to beautify my office, I bought extra machines, made customized nylons and so on to attract more customer.

More to that, I invested even more on my skill by upgrading whenever I have the time, I took both online and offline fashion courses just to stay at the top of my game and today all the effort and consistency is gradually paying off.

This is a reminder that nothing good comes easily and it's important to enjoy every process of our growth as with more consistency and hard work we will reach our dreams.

I felt inspired to share my story, just maybe it could inspire a fellow needle worker to keep thriving no matter what.

Displaying your work, keeping reminders of where and when you learned something new, a wonderful way to watch self-growth in improvement. Garments look well finished in design with happy clients!

Being able to create clothing a wonderful way to not only save personally, but sell into the market once you build up a client base.

That's a perfect roadmap to success for those thinking that starting out with little means they will never 'make it big'. Keep on growing and inspiring others to grow to their fullest potential! Beautiful clothing :)

That's right, we do not always have to wait until we have it all together, it's always a gradual process. Thank you for stopping by.

Humble beginning indeed, based on the present level of your fashion designer career most people will not believe you started by sowing cloths in a room. Nothing good starts easy. I congratulate you for the progress you have made, it is really commendable.
