Bicycle Memories.
I was reminded of my childhood days at the sight of this bicycle as soon as I visited my nephew today.
The last time I rode a bicycle was over a decade ago when I last visited one of my cousins in the village alongside my siblings.
I have always loved to ride a bicycle but I have a fear of riding a bicycle maybe because I didn't have one while growing up but I do admire people who can ride a bicycle effortlessly.
That day, I was so determined that I would learn how to ride a bicycle so I begged my cousin to teach me how to ride one, he told me that I was going to get injured first before I could be an expert and I agreed to it.
We started our lesson as early as 6:30 am that day as he held the bicycle from behind and taught me how to pedal gently, I remember falling severally but I didn't have any serious injury.
Soon, he started to leave the bicycle and I began to pedal the bicycle in an unsteady manner but I enjoyed every bit of it, we came back home after four hours of lessons and we did that for a week consistently.
If there was anything I wanted so badly at that moment was to own a bicycle so that I could use it for errands when I got back home but then I was just a child who relied on the allowance my parent gave me.
I remember begging my Uncle who was overseas as of then to send money for me to buy one but then it was just on empty promises.
As time went by, I forgot about it and so too I forgot all the lessons my cousin taught me.
As soon as I visited my nephew today and saw his beautiful bicycle, it brought back those beautiful memories and I wonder if I will ever ride a bicycle now without falling.
Since cycling is a form of exercise, I will be adding it to my bucket list to get one for myself so that I use it as a form of exercise over the weekends and most evenings to a close by resort when I feel like having a quiet time. I just hope I don't fall off the bicycle. Hehe
Today, I watched my nephew ride his bicycle effortlessly and I loved the fact that he was happy.
He told me how his mom has made plans to change his bicycle to a bigger one once he clocks 13.
I believe it wouldn't be on empty promises as I have also vowed to ensure the nephews and nieces in my life enjoy the things I couldn't when I was their age, if for any reason his mom didn't keep the promise, I will ensure I get one for him just to keep him happy because he has been a source of joy to our family.

Thank you so much for being kind.
Giving your nephew a bicycle as a gift is a swell idea. I'm sure he would appreciate it a lot.
As long as you can ride a bicycle, there's no falling down for you. Have you not heard that once a soldier, is always a soldier.
Thank you @beckyroyal for the nice comment.
