Why do we have incompetent technicians?

Wait a minute, how come a phone's battery dies or goes off at 42% after fixing a screen?

Let me just rant here please, I've been holding up this since last week.

I think many things have triggered my bad mood, first, let me state that I have been having bad days since Monday.

After publishing content that Monday night, I dropped my phone somewhere close to my bed, and lo and behold I slept off, at about 2 am, the power supply was restored so I decided to wake up to charge, only to find out that I had slept on my phone and the screen had gone blank, the ink had overflown and covered the whole screen.

Well, thanks to Hive, the next morning which was Tuesday, I decided to withdraw some HBD to fix my phone, which I did, now here was another problem I encountered.
I transferred money from my bank account into the phone technician's account after he had fixed the screen, only to be debited by my bank and not credited into his account, luckily for me I went with my brother, so to avoid embarrassment he offered to transfer the money to him through is Opay account which went through immediately, so now I had to find a way to get back the money to refund him.

I waited for the money to be reversed for at least I waited for 24hours but nothing happened at this point I was getting worried because some of these banks can be mischievous, and $20 (15,000 naira)was at stake.

I decided to reach them on their helpline, and that was when MTN my mobile network provider decided to be unstable, I mean the network went all out throughout that day, and I didn't know if I should scream or cry, it was getting me all worked up.

The next day, I managed to reach them on Twitter, on their verified account and I wasn't getting any favorable response, thought about going to their office, however, that was not the best option as it was usually crowded all the time, with the long queues and all.

Thankfully, I finally reached them via their helplines and after two days, my money was refunded and I was able to pay my brother too. #breathesin.

Now the problem is, after fixing the screen, I have been battling with my phone going off at 42%, I mean how come? When I try to charge it again, it begins from 0%, why is it that whenever we fix a gadget, it develops another fault, why can't this technician be competent enough or honest at least?

I tried to reach him to explain what is going on, at first, he asked me to come around, and he opened the phone and clipped the battery well, I thought everything will be fine, but nothing changed, it still went off at 38% or sometimes 42% now he keeps telling me he is not in the shop, he is at the market, ehn I will need to change my phone's battery and all sorts. All sort of silly response!

My phone's battery was in good condition before I went to fix the screen, now my screen is good but the battery keeps frustrating me, I feel like I've been played, maybe he changed the battery or something, ermm @moremoney28 I remember you are a phone technician, please do you have any advice for me? Or what do you think, it's affecting my productivity at my store and my presence in the hive, I could just be texting, and then the phone goes off, it's frustrating!!!

My phone is now on life support, using a Power bank to prevent it from going off at 42% and now there's a constant battle with a constant power supply, the power bank will so go off as there's not been a regular power supply, in my country if it rains, they use 4days to dry the wire🙄🙄🙄🙄, I mean they will intentionally not restore power supply, for reason best known to them and if I disconnect the power bank from my phone, it is good as dead, now I feel like screaming and crying!!!!

This got me laughing.

I know how you feel both about the light and a bad phone. I dealt with a bad phone for almost half a year after my ‘phones’ were stolen. I kept fixing my bad phone over and over although the manufacturers did for free since it was a new product. I just concluded that I didn't have a phone for the while. Just got a small phone to receive calls and to call then charged the Android to handle pressing issues that needed it, till I saved up enough to purchase a good new phone.

So sorry dear. This will be a story of the past in good time.🤗

Thank you, I'm still trying to save up to get a new phone, cause I am tired of fixing this one over and over again.

As for the light, may God come through for us o, it's so annoying.

Really sorry about your phone but the truth is that. He might made a mistake while repairing the screen of the phone and basically no engineer will tell you they make such a mistakes, my advice is just that you should try as much as you can to fix the battery of your phone because the only solution is to change it . Also make sure you buy the original one and not the fake one because they also sell the fake one.

I hope you find an engineer you trust and if you ever needs to talk about the phone remember I'm always here to tell you the truth dear.

Ohk this is best I can do, go to any phone technician and I will talk to the person from phone. I think that should help. I understand how you feeling sorry dear.

Oh man.. It is true what they say, "When it rains, it pours."

I am curious, what kind of phone is it exactly? I have seen this problem before and it usually means an issue with the phone communicating correctly with the battery.

The other possibility is that the battery is failing and the device is getting bad data from it. If the battery is replaceable they are often quite cheap.

Oh thanks for coming through @nuthman, it is an Infinix phone, and it's an inbuilt battery as well, it is just frustrating you know.

I am really sorry about this. it happens if you got into the wrong hands. Some of these technicians are not so good at what they do. Its just risky taking your device to them.

You are complaining about changing your screen and it resulted in a battery issue.
Now what will you say in this case of just fixing the screen guide to protect the screen from damage and immediately after the screen guide is fixed your screen went blank?

I advise you should change the battery.

That's what happens when you go to someone without any sense of integrity. Because even if it was just a coincidence and he didn't have a hand to do with the malfunctioning, a good technician would have offered to at least see what's wrong. I know what it means to deal with the excesses of a faulty phone. Sorry dear.🌺

This is why I try my best to protect my phone because once you take it out to repair any part, another part will develop a fault and you keep spending a lot on it, and the solution is to get a new one. Most engineers are not competent enough and they won´t tell you they made a mistake on their end. Can you imagine that situation? Your battery was doing okay before the repair and now, they tampered with it. That can be so frustrating especially when you are working online and your phone suddenly trips off. So bad of the engineer.

Then, for the MTN network provider, I was so mad and frustrated last night when I couldn´t do anything and I slept angrily. The same thing continued today and it made me inactive online. The network is just working fine for now and I hope they don´t bring up the issue again.

I guess you will have to go get a new battery but the original one. Find someone who can go with you and knows the original from fake so you aren´t cheated again. Sorry about your experience. I popped in through #dreemport

I heard that MTN is upgrading its system that why the network has been unstable.

As for the phone eh, I just want to save up and get a new one because I am tired of all the stress.

From your complains I can deduce that you are a Nigerian or am I wrong?

Some technicians are devils in disguise I remembered a time when I went to fix the screen of techno P5, this man literally destroyed the phoned and offered to buy me another phone after I pressured him.

Just find another technician who is capable of getting the job done, I would have shared you a contact of a technician I know but I'm not sure of your location.

looks like Tuesdays aint your day. i can totally fill your hanger, one time i slept on my phone and screen got blank, wass so frustrated. and annoying, just keep calm thats the best way to resolve this

The challenges of life in these days! Lol. I wish that phones and those devices were built to last but sadly they are built to be replaced and keep people buying shit. Hopefully you get it sorted out!
