I.A.A.C. #12 - RIP to a radiator fan, RIP to my Chaos Legion savings: how CL savings cushioned an unexpected expense

Thank you Chaos Legion Savings, for saving my butt

I really love Splinterlands. Great game, really fun to play, especially if you have a really diverse portfolio of cards to pick and choose from. The token economics system is pretty nuts, from the DEC to SPS governance to aftermarket NFT card rentals, you could 'play the Splinterlands markets' without even playing the Splinterlands card game itsself. Pretty crazy when you think about it.

I've been playing for over half a year now, with a strong collection of cards I bought early in March purely because I liked playing the game. It was fun, novel to play with NFTs in such a way. Then the game really took off, with its market cap rising to pretty awesome heights, and I definitely got more interested. I am an officer with the guild @acolytesofhelio and engage regularly within some communities and promote the game heavily to friends.

With Chaos Legion is coming out soon, I had saved up some cash from working crazy amounts of overtime deep inside of a cave. Setting it aside in an account, I've been waiting for when the new set would be released.

This fan-thing is important by the way

That is, until last week when my radiator died and my car almost blew up. I had a hose rupture within the heating/cooling system, so radiator fluid went everywhere and the entire system lost pressure. Since the onboard electronics of the radiator fan were built onto the fan itsself this lead to a very expensive replacement that I had to do.

Luckily for me, I had some savings put aside for Chaos Legion, but priorities such as transportation kind of take precedence over a novel NFT card game. So that account was tapped and emptied to fix my car. I could be upset about it, but I take a moment to reflect and decide nah, I'm actually happy that I had the cushion there in the first place.

So thanks Splinterlands. Oh, I'm also glad that the release for CL was pushed back to mid Nov cause that will let me save up again. I'm going hard into that set boy!
