The Sun Is Red Orange At Sunset
The red-orange sun when it sets is often associated with dry, stable weather and high air pressure. The sun that is very red when it sets can be a sign that we will experience good weather for a long time. However, the sign that is key is the red sky around the sun - and not the color of the clouds. So, make no mistake. All of this is due to a phenomenon known as Rayleigh scattering, which is a physical phenomenon.

Rayleigh scattering occurs when components and particulates in the atmosphere (such as oxygen, nitrogen and dust) become denser. They scatter the different colors of light that make up sunlight. As the sun goes down, its light must shine through the deeper atmosphere. The atmosphere tends to scatter blue and green light on a large scale, but not red. As a result, the sun looks redder towards sunset.
Any dust particles present also tend to scatter frequencies of red light toward us, increasing the reddish tint even more. So the combination of blue light being scattered away from us, and red light being the opposite, scattering toward us, causes the sky to sometimes appear red.
