Hoi An, more pictures on the walk and the way out of town

How can I leave with so much still to see and so much still goin on. Perhaps this is that day that I will see about making some leather shoes. I have been an avid rock climber and always liked the design of shoes for climbing. They bind tight and enable the foot to move around and be pointed precisely.
I took some time to learn more about these types of shops. In fact when I was living in Italy I traveled to the La Sportiva factory to see how shoes are made, specifically climbing shoes.

Here are some patterns that I have found. Now to go around to the leather workers and ask if they have the machine to make flat stitch where the material is paired up on the end grain and sewn this way. Best to have pictures to explain what I am looking for.
Here is the shoes that I am bringing to show what I am looking for.


The inside stitched are the important part of this shoes. So that it is not filled with folds and ridges of overlapping material which would leave hard lines across the foot cutting off circulation.

She looks and wonders and then hesitantly says that they cannot make shoes like this.

Hey @apunawu or @harhess can you make climbing shoes? Your other work is quite somethings...perhaps you can make unique shoes....? So I move along and find some leather so that I can make some items that I have been thinking about.

Here is what I found in the way of leather workers.

Almost all the show shops turned me away, They did not have the machine and did not want to start down the road of this project. instead they offered shoes off the rack and ready to go. I was ready to go and find more possibilities.
I did buy some leather....can you guess what colour?
I do leather work and will use of the leather to make wraps for the shifter on my motorcycle. But lets sop looking for unique shoes that no one in town will make for me and lets take a ride and take some pictures.

A nice looking hotel that I may have spent time in with a beautiful balcony on both sides of the room....wow how nice it was.

The waterways along the roads along the city , in the city and making this city what is is.

During the evening there are many lights and things to do and see....I watch from across the way and see what goes on from afar.

The beach around town where I stop for a break, a snack and some time to reflect.

Some times my camera works perfect and allows me to take some good shots and have some control over the lighting and aperture.....but not often. I used to take photos for work...but now I take them during travel on not the best gear. But this shot turned out nice.

As the time here was quite something's it is, as always, time to move on from this place so I head down the road after dealing with all the semantics of moving on.


But wait.......Who is this???

Coming in fast hot ready and willing to go....I know this person. We have met before and are heading the same way.

Well right on the journey will continue with a known travel companion.




Off she goes. After having a bit of a chat from the random meeting here along the street. We talk about where were were going before this meet up...the same are, alright perfect ill meet you there and well get-together for dinner.
More to come as the road are crossing from the high mountains of Sapa to the lowlands of wetlands in Hoi An.

These pictures were taken around the town of Hoi An. The hunt for leather and shoes and pants and a belt were not as successful as they were thought to be. I have had other custom clothes made from different countries and these here in Vietnam are a good deal of what is expected to be what you get. Not great not horrible but practically in the middle as finding tall pants here are a burden when you rip through pants and did not bring very much. The town is best to be seen when every can get there to see it. Hoi An is definitely a place to check out and worth stopping for a few day.
