Greetings Summoners! Welcome to Battle Mage Secrets. The Battle Mage Secrets is a challenge where every week players must test their strategic skills in battle for specific rules. This week the specific rule is "Holy Protection".

• All units gain the Divine Shield ability which reduces the damage of the first attack received to 0.
• Divine Shield will be re-applied when a unit is Resurrected.
• Blast damage will remove Divine Shield.

This battle was played in a Splinterlands tournament where only the Chaos Legion and Riftwatchers editions were allowed to play. It was in the "Summoners' Novice Beginner Training" tournament, so only level 1 cards were allowed. Let's see the rules, the team and the details of the battle.

Battle Rules & Strategy

This is a 36 mana battle with 3 battle rules (Super Sneak, Holy Protection and Taking Sides). All elements except Fire, Earth and Death are allowed to play.

Strategy & Tips

• Monsters that normally have this ability do not get it twice.

• The trick to win in this ruleset is to fill all 6 slots of your line up and use monsters with Blast and Double Strike.

• Use a monster or summoner that has Resurrect to use this ruleset at its maximum potential.

• Use a powerful Gladius card.

• Use a monster with Fly or Dodge in last position to defend against the Super Sneak rule.

• Our strategy will be to use a magic damage composition. Does magic damage is very important. Monsters with magic attack may do damage from any row, since this form of attack ignores the defender’s Armor STAT (damage is applied directly to health). Unless there is a monster with Phase on the enemy's team, magic attack will always hit. There is no miss chance.

My Lineup

At five-hundred and ninety-three years old, Rosa Phireth was the youngest matriarch selected by the other cardinals to head the Church of Helios. Now, almost a century later, she has greatly increased the church’s influence within the Gloridax Empire and developed a close friendship and bond with the Dragonach Shogun, head of the empire’s mighty Dragonsguard. Rosa carries Ataraxia, the Dragon Warden Staff. According to scripture, Ataraxia was gifted to the church’s first Matriarch by Helios, the Sun God of Dragons, himself. The staff has the power to bend time to the will of its wielder.

Helios Matriarch: I really like this summoner as it gives +1 Speed to all friendly monsters and the possibility to use an additional Gladiator card in battle.

Pelacor Conjurer: I have chosen Pelacor Conjurer as a tank because it has a decent Speed and Flying ability, which gives him a more chance to dodge monsters with melee and ranged attacks.

Djinn Renova: This is an amazing magic attack card with a nice combination of magic and HP. All friendly monsters increase their health by +1 thanks to the Strengthen ability. It fits very well with our magic attack team.

Captain Katie: Incredibly powerful Gladius card that every time she defeats an opponent, she gets +1 to all stats. She is unstoppable.

Time Mage: This card is very useful. Its "Slow" ability reduces the Speed of all enemy monsters allowing our monsters to attack first and have less chance to miss.

Dax Paragon: There are not many magic attack cards for only 2 Mana and Dax Paragon is one of them! For only 2 Mana he has 1 Magic attack, 2 Speed and 3 HP which is pretty cool.

Time Meddler: I choose Time Meddler as my sixth and last card position because it has the Dodge ability, which increases chance of evading Melee attacks.

I think my strategy worked well. The choice of our summoner was quite good as it allowed us to increase our speed to attack first. I am happy with my victory and the strategy I used. I have won 20 SPS for finishing 2nd in this tournament. I won 18 battles out of 22.
