Hello everyone and welcome to the Battle Weekly Challenge. This week the challenge is with Grund, an epic Earth element card with the Double Strike ability that belongs to the Chaos Legion edition.

The battle that we are going to see in this challenge was played in a Splinterland tournament, where only the Chaos Legion and Riftwatchers editions were allowed to play. It was in the "Summoners' Novice Beginner Training" tournament, so only level 1 cards were allowed. Let's see the rules, the team and the details of the battle.

Battle Rules

This is a 58 mana battle with 2 battle rules (Equalizer and Fire & Regret). All elements except Fire, Life and Dragon are allowed to play.

IconNameDescription
EqualizerThe initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.
Fire & RegretAll Monsters have the Return Fire ability.

Tips

  • Equalizer: Don't use high HP monsters and focus on high damage. Try to use a lot of monsters as well.

  • Fire & Regret: When hit with a Ranged attack, Monsters with Return Fire will return reduced damage back to their attacker. Therefore try not to use monsters with ranged attack.

My Lineup

Obsidian grew up in the remote village of Stonebluff as the last remaining Earth mage. Each year, Earth elementalists went off to compete in the contest, leaving Obsidian to train the next generation of warriors. She wished to join the contest of champions, but the village elders advised her against it, saying she needed to stay behind and focus on training others to use Earth magic. She grew resentful of the way she was treated, knowing she was better than previous mages before her. So, she planned her revenge. In a mine near the village, she taught classes on Earth magic and gained the trust of her students. Her teachings were strenuous and those who could not follow techniques were punished, forced to magically hold obsidian above their heads until it fell on them. She eventually learned to use obsidian to enhance the powers of others. And there was one apprentice she took under her wing. Someone who carried equal anger in his heart. She amplified his abilities in combat practice against other students, making him stronger and more ferocious than his opponents.

Obsidian: I really like this Summoner as it gives +1 magic attack to all friendly magic attack monsters.

Grund: In the first position I have decided to use Grund, the protagonist of this challenge. This card is fast, has high HP, and attacks twice with its Double Strike ability. It basically does 6 damage each round, which is very powerful. It will help us to kill the enemy tank quickly.

Regal Peryton: This card is incredibly fast. The high speed is very important as it allows us to attack first and dodge melee and ranged attacks.

Magi of Chaos: Another amazing magic attack card that in combination with our Summoner will have +1 additional magic attack, so it will do 3 damage each round. This card is Neutral, so we can use it with all elements.

Suidae Shaman: This Monster attacks every other round but does 3x damage. It is especially good against monsters with high HP.

Goblin Psychic: This card will help us to keep our tank alive as long as possible thanks to its Tank Heal ability, which restores a portion of the monster in the first position's health each round. Tank Heal is particularly good in a battle with the "Equalizer" rule, as it restores 1/3 of the max health, rounded up.

Mycelic Slipspawn All enemy monsters will target Mycelic Slipspawn thanks to its Taunt ability. It is very useful to protect the rest of the friendly monsters.

Do you like Grund?

Yes, I like Grund. Personally, it's not a card I use a lot due to its high mana cost. Right now I'm playing in the Bronze League and the mana cap is usually low. But I always try to use it in high mana battles and when the ruleset allows it. I think this card is especially good in the following battle rules: "Unprotected", "Spreading Fury" and "Equal Opportunity".

Grund is a very good card, just get used to using this card the way you did. If we use the cards properly then we can easily win the battle.
