Leaf assignment - Architecture School

Hello everyone! Hope all of you are doing great.

So about a month back I started my journey with architecture school. I was super excited and nervous at the same time. I was getting into a creative field , which I have always wanted. I want to share this journey with all of you. Starting with my first assignment.

Before I share with you all my first assignment at college , I want to acknowledge the support of the architecture community. I get to learn a lot from this community and I'm gonna be ever so grateful that I get to be a part of this and share my experience and my knowledge. With that being said I want to show you all my very first assignment that my teacher at my architecture school gave me.

In this assignment we were asked to select various types of leaves (different colours and patterns). After we chose our leaves our teachers asked us to make boxes of 5*5 cm and try and imitate the colour and pattern of each leaf that we had chosen. Though a very tiring process when you try to match the colours it sure was a good activity. It made us observe the tiny details in a leaf , which we never would any other time.

Time and again we will keep having such activities and exercises where in they test our observational skills. It took me about 45 minutes to an hour maximum for the leaves with lots of pattern and for the ones which I found it a little hard to match the colours of. I had to try each leaf multiple times , so that each time I did it I would observe more everytime and I would see more details everytime.

Trying to match the colours was a task . Sometimes it would look like it matched the colour of the leaf ,but what I did wrong was to sit and paint under yellow lighting that mislead me a lot. Having said that I somehow managed to match the colours and my teacher was impressed.

What the biggest obstacle not being good at painting. Because even if I observed the little most details I couldn't show it in terms of the painting , which felt like I was being held back from showing the little details that I observed. But of course as I progress , with practice my skills will get better.

Hopefully as we progress my skills get better and better. I want to keep getting better at my skills and hopefully I'll be able to produce quality work.

I want to share all the assignments and exercises we have done so far in a month. A way to document my 5 years of this profesional course. I'm really pleased to share it in this community , where I get to learn so many new things everyday. Really looking forward to sharing my work with all of you and how I can improve. That would help me a lot.

Hope you guys have a great weekend 😊 !

Hey! I can so relate to all these drawings of yours. Actually, I too am a diploma in interior design. And did these same drawings during my foundation course. Your drawings felt so nostalgic to me! :):)
