This week when I read the questions of contest #87 I was very excited because as a child I always read stories about all kinds of mythological beings: some good like mermaids, mermaids, centaurs and others not so good like chimeras and minotaurs. However, if I have to choose one, I must say VAMPIRES. They have always been a constant in my life, everything about them has always fascinated me, in all stages of my life from Twilight, The Vampire Chronicles by Anna Rice, the classic Dracula and the movies Hotel Transylvania and What we do in the shadows are some of my favorites and series like True Blood, The vampire diaries and Legacy as well.

Esta semana cuando leí las preguntas del concurso #87 me emocioné muchísimo porque de niña siempre leía historias sobre toda clase de seres mitológicos: unos buenos como sirenas, pegazos, centauros y otros no tan buenos como las quimeras y los minotauros. Ahora bien, si he de elegir uno debo decir que LOS VAMPIROS. Ellos siempre han sido una constante en mi vida, todo sobre ellos siempre me ha fascinado, en todos los estadios de mi vida desde Twilight, Las crónicas vampíricas de Anna Rice, el clásico Drácula y las películas Hotel Transylvania y What we do in the shadows son de mis favoritas y series como True Blood, The vampire diaries y Legacy también.

What makes them so special that I wish they existed?

¿que los hace tan especiales que me gustaría que existieran?

Well, it strikes me too much that a being of human appearance can be so lethal and have all that series of "super powers" such as strength and speed while maintaining that appearance unlike, for example, werewolves. I also like and I find it very funny that of all the animals that one could imagine that such a creature could become, they do it in bats. The part of the blood, which for some might be a bit despicable, I also find fascinating, because changes must happen to the body of a human to become a vampire that subsists only blood. In this order of ideas also attracts me the idea that you are not "born" being a vampire, but that you are "converted", so if they existed we could all aspire to be one and with this I mean that somehow we could aspire to have these "powers", as it would not happen with other mythological creatures, of course all this are assumptions.

Pues bien, me llama demasiado la atención que un ser de apariencia humana pueda ser tan letal y tenga toda esa serie de "super poderes" como la fuerza y la rapidez manteniendo dicha apariencia a diferencia por ejemplo de los hombres lobo. También me gusta y me causa mucha gracia que de todos los animales en los que uno se imaginaria que dicha criatura pudiera convertirse lo hagan en murciélagos. La parte de la sangre, que para algunos pudiera ser un poco despreciable también me parece fascinante, porque cambios debe pasar el cuerpo de un humano para que al convertirse en vampiro que subsiste solo se sangre. En este orden de ideas tambien me atrae la idea de que no "naces" siendo un vampiro, sino que te "convierten", por lo que si existieran todos podríamos aspirar alguna vez a serlo y con esto me refiero a que de alguna forma podríamos aspirar a tener estos "poderes", como no sucederia con otras criaturas mitológicas, naturalmente todo esto son suposiciones.

At the same time I find them as very vulnerable beings, it is incredible how they are practically invincible at night, and that something like daylight or silver can kill them. I also really like how long-lived they can become and how they must adapt to the times, because in my head two scenarios can happen: the one posed by Twilight where they are very mixed with society and the one posed by What we do in the shadows, where they live on their own and because of this they are a bit innocent with respect to things like technology.

Al mismo tiempo los encuentro como seres muy vulnerables, es increíble cómo a la par de ser prácticamente invencibles de noche, y que algo como la luz del día o la plata pueda acabar con ellos. También me agrada mucho los longevos que pueden llegar a ser y cómo deben adaptarse a las épocas, porque en mi cabeza pueden suceder dos escenarios: el planteado por Twilight donde están muy mezclados con la sociedad y el planteado por What we do in the shadows, donde viven a su aire y por esto son un poco inocentes con respecto a cosas como la tecnología.

Finally, and maybe it's a little bit of a prefabricated idea of the ideas that we have about vampires, I like that associated with these creatures there is always an institution that regulates their actions, a kind of disciplinary court that is in charge of diminishing the beast part of the vampires so that they can coexist with the other creatures.

So yes, if I could choose what mythological animal could exist, I would choose vampires. I would like to invite @dayadam to participate and tell him congratulations since he won the last contest. That's all for today, goodbye!

Por último y tal vez es una idea un poco prefabricada de las ideas que tenemos que los vampiros, me gusta que asociado a estas criaturas siempre ha una institución que regula sus actuaciones, una especie de tribunal disciplinario que se encarga de mermar la parte bestia de los vampiros para que estos coexistan con las demás criaturas.
Así que si, si pudiera elegir que animal mitológico pudiera existir, elegiría a los vampiros. Me gustaría invitar a @dayadam a participar y decirle que enhorabuena ya que ganó el concurso pasado. Esto es todo por hoy, adiós!
