To Scrap Selenia Plans for Cubes?

(Edited)

I should have known better than to indulge in writing my 500 words in bed last night. Only took a break for a couple minutes to brainstorm and then the next thing I knew it 8 am.

Anyways, onto yesterday's now today's 500 words, the topic being splinterlands which I'll start by sharing one of yesterday's favorite battles.

There are battles of attrition, there are battles where overwhelming with force is the go to move, and then there are battles where all of the above is in play. The battle below was just that, a massacre that could have gone either way, kept me on the edge of my seat as I was rocking to Billy Joel's classic, Piano Man.

Man I love when my Earth monsters are doing Daria's bidding.

The Battle.

P.S: For some reason the link is no longer working for me. Either I didn't copy it properly, or, who cares. Use your imagination if it doesn't work. Spoiler alert, I win.

In the Words of Nickel 9,
Hi Rihanna.
Selenia.

Speaking of Daria, I can't believe I had forgotten just how graciously deadly and efficient his cousin Selenia is. If 1 year ago me saw me right now he would be disappointed and outraged since for the longest time Selenia was my summoner of choice when I wanted mayhem.

But now, she ironically mostly just collects dust. Her being at level 1, Daria at level 4 and Zintar at 5, I unfortunately had mostly forgotten how unforgiving she can be to her enemies despite low status.

That was until when I was browsing through my collection yesterday, realizing all the abilities my monsters/brethren in arms now posses but can't use, all because my sweet yet dreadful Selenia's arsenal isn't up the par.

Entered Champion III
Yesterday.

Right there and then I could see it all. The strategies and formations, the calmness before the storm, and the reigning chaos in enemy lines as raining arrows make the crimson field plead for a warrior's death. From there and then I knew exactly what I had do.

Break the bank need be, so long as the price of 1 selenia remains in the 20 dollars. Even then it will still take me weeks to purchase two of them unless I get extremely lucky and pull a GFL soon. Highly doubt that since in my two years playing I've only managed to pull one.

Regardless, buying two Selenias is my goal now and after that, slowly by slowly upgrade the rest of my summoners....

And that's where I was last night when slumber joined the conversation. However, now I'm not so sure anymore that's what I should be doing. Why?

Earlier today as I was browsing through the splinterlands community I saw this post by @xawi in which she was talking about the incoming cubes that are replacing orbs except they will also include a few summoners. Hype meets FOMO my compass is going haywire and now I don't know what to go for. Ish

Legendary I pulled
Last Week.

Pros Vs Cons:

If I take too long to make my move on the skys someone will surely scoop the cheapest ones, but then again by the time I'll get enough funds it will more likely than not also be too late.

If I buy the cubes there's a slim chance I could pull a rare or epic goldie. History being the indicator, such cards tend to be a lot more expensive when their packs are still fresh out the oven. In such an event as unlikely as it is, they could help finance a Selenia.

The afromentioned law of FOMO also applies to Legendaries. There's also a much, much slimmer chance I pull a GFL. Let's not hold our breath for such an eventuality.

Not to mention there will certainly also be new useful abilities to make my deck more versatile.

Also, I wonder if the burn per card's rarity will be the same as that of reward cards or orb cards. Hopefully it's the latter and why not, it could even be more.

Still, despite all those pros in favor of the cubes Selenia still has one thing going for her. She's Selenia freakin Sky!

Plus there's no doubt that having her at level 2 would massively increase my prowess in battle since on average my ranged monsters are more stacked than the other types, and I'm already doing quite well if I do say so myself. And yet, FOMO meets hype, decisions decisions.

And for the final decision to be made one major question needs to be answered. When exactly do these cubes drop? Anyways, until that information is gotten guess I'll be bidding my time, as always accumulating crystals.

In the Words of Royce Da 5'9,
Bye Rihanna Selenia.

PEACE!!

I wanted to see the battle for the fun of it but no good. I would have predicted your win with your magic resistant tank. Double reflect and the mushroom for anti-magic. Pity that i can't watch it happen.

selenia is a beast at max level and at the lower ones too. You can buy a level 3 for just 25 at the moment. I actually think that there is some great value in summoners at the moment due to some large account having a sell of. I picked up a couple of maxed out ones as the prices were too cheap and wanted to compete properly at champion. The next task will be to try and max out some of my reward cards while prices are low. As you said, the goal is to keep adding every day.

Pretty much, yup. And I agree, it sucks it can't be watched, it had such a lot of rewatch. lol

From where though? I can't find it on the website, if I find I'll gladly break bank.

P.s: In the post I made a mistake, my Selenia is at level 2.

And cheers for the tip :)

There are some great deals to be had at the moment. Selenia used to be $20 for one card but you can buy 11 at $5 for a maxed out one. Just $55. It's a great time to buy. I've even been picking up a lot of golds for future resale with my DEC.

Some cards that were $5 are going for $1 right now.

It's cray but for some reason I always forget to check the beta cards on the market, probably because practically most of the first editions cards I have are alpha. Out of sight out of mind I guess.

Cheers for the plug, once I can I'll get the level 3 Selenia and sell my level 2 alpha one for double the price and see how it goes.

If you can buy now, buy now. There is a large account selling off and that is why a lot of the beta and untamed are so cheap. I've picked up lots of cards for resale later. Hoping to make a few hundred dollars from holding for a couple of months. It's an easy way to earn hive if you can buy and hold the more valuable ones like legendary or gold. I've done it a few times before and done well from it.

Nice strategy there. Sadly I can't buy right now, I've put my level 2 alpha Selenia and if I'm lucky someone will buy it soon which would gimme enough for the level 3 beta, and then some, then get myself 3 Untamed legendaries I've been eying and then cash out the rest if there's any left.
