Black and white. Sometimes the clouds are bright, sometimes the clouds are dark. That is life. But we must not remain silent and defeated by circumstances. I am not full of joy. Many times I am also affected by circumstances. I've been putting off a lot of things. But from that, I learned how to enjoy life. There are things that we cannot completely control. When there are things that happen beyond our control, then we can do other things. Maybe it's the universe's way of bringing us to something we've never tried before.

Today's dark day led me to the creation of a new menu. An afternoon was filled with heavy rain. There was no more sunlight even though it was not yet sunset time. I looked in the fridge and saw the ingredients were soft white in color. Who else if not tofu.

tofu in beautiful shape. my fav thing about tofu.

I have a stock of soft tofu. I'm thinking of preparing the tofu in a way that doesn't overcook. Just simple ways but the result will be great taste. As usual, I'll use soy sauce with some spicy flavor. For me, there is no other perfect partner for tofu than soy sauce. It's an authentic thing that is seen as the default in the culinary world. Do you guys agree to that?

The Ingredients

  • 1 block of tofu
  • 5 teaspoons of soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of chili flakes
  • 3 cloves of small red onion, sliced thinly
  • 2 cloves of onion, sliced thinly
  • enough chopped spring onions
  • enough sesame seeds for serving

Preparation

Prepare a heat-resistant container that will be used to steam the tofu. Place the tofu in the container. Then, slice the tofu. I enjoy slicing tofu. It taught me to focus and be patient. Doing so requires patience so the tofu doesn't break. We can just do that untidy. But for me, displaying beauty in serving food is a plus that can raise the class of even the simplest food.

Also, I think slicing the tofu the way I did avoids the tofu breaking apart. For the other pieces, I'm afraid it will break the tofu quickly.

Steaming Tofu

After placing it in the container, and slicing the tofu, it's time to steam the tofu. Steam the tofu for 10 minutes.

During steaming, some water will come out of the tofu. I suggest disposing of the water by scooping the water out or using a tissue that absorbs the water.

Making Spicy Sweet Soy Sauce

Heat the oil. Then sauté the garlic first, followed by the red onions. Do it until they smell good like a good mood that lifts you up.

Add soy sauce, chili powder, chili flakes, salt, chopped spring onions, and water. Stir them well, and wait for them to boil. Taste correction before lifting. Then set it aside.

After 10 minutes, remove the steamed tofu. Discard the water that comes out of the steamed tofu. Then pour the soy sauce over the steamed tofu. Steam again for 5 minutes so that the seasoning flavor permeates the tofu more.

Serving

Serve while warm. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. If you are a fan of spring onion or celery, you can add that when preparing the tofu.

A warm tofu dish that cheers me up on a rainy day. I scooped the soft steamed tofu which tasted delicious too.

I enjoy this dish while writing short articles such as journaling but in a short versions. I felt a sense of serenity on what was actually a pretty spooky day when dark clouds filled the sky over the house. But these warm ones make me comfortable and focus on positive things, not negative things.

What's your favorite warm meal on a rainy day? Or, do you prefer to hide under the covers and try to eat in your dreams? upps!

I love to eat French fries in rainy weather. I've never had tofu before, and the steaming was tempting. I wonder what it tastes like.

Today it's very rainy and dark. It's gloomy and miserable. I did not go anywhere. I have tofu and I think that steamed tofu would be a perfect way to have dinner. I know what we are having today. Your photos look delicious.😊

Good thing I didn't know it was a Tofu, but knowing the various ingredients, it looks spectacular. Now, it seems to me that the Chiles are sweet, because very spicy, they would be a Tofu style or Mexican cooking, where they use very spicy Chile, in meals. I wish you much success, dear friend @anggreklestari From Venezuela I thank you for always visiting my publications on Yoga and food.

Tofu isn't that famous here but I would love to try it soon. Heard that it's a good alternative for meat.
