Double Tuber Treats for A Lovely Evening

Maybe life doesn't always give us enough, but we as humans are given the advantage to be able to feel enough with the blessings we receive.

Sweet potato and cassava are types of tubers that are very close to my life since childhood. We can use these food ingredients as a source of carbohydrates for our main course which is served with side dishes. Or, we make the hunger pangs before we get the main meal.

My family also often makes sweet potatoes and cassava with brown sugar sauce which is served warm. Usually, we make it in the morning as breakfast, or when it rains, and also as a late dinner.

For those of you who often follow my food blog, you may have seen the same recipe as mine this time. But what makes the difference is that this time I used two types of bulbs together.

It should be better if I combine sweet potato with banana, or combine cassava with banana. But because that day I didn't get any ripe bananas to mix with sweet potatoes, I ended up using cassava.

No need to worry, the taste of the final result of this sweet snack will still be delicious. I served this sweet treat before dinner to my lovely partner. :)

THE INGREDIENTS

  • Cassava and sweet potatoes
  • brown sugar
  • white sugar
  • coconut milk
  • salt
  • pandan leaves or vanilla



HOW TO MAKE IT

The way to make this dish is certainly very easy. But it's a bit tricky to check the level of doneness of cassava and sweet potatoes.

STEP 1

Prepare sweet potatoes and cassava. Peel them, cut them into small pieces and wash them thoroughly.

STEP 2

Boil sweet potatoes and cassava with salt and pandan leaves to enhance the fragrant aroma of this sweet dish. Boil them until half cooked.

STEP 3

After the sweet potato and cassava are half cooked, add brown sugar and white sugar. Stir well and then cook again until their texture is perfectly cooked.

STEP 4

Final step, add coconut milk and stir briefly, then remove.

Serve this sweet dish while warm. You can add roasted almonds or other grains if you want to enrich the texture. It tastes sweet and savory from coconut milk. It makes the evening more lovely and warm like your encouraging hug.
