Get Photo Inspiration From Surrounding Circumstances

New circumstances bring new inspiration.
Get moving, and find what makes your mind work.

My mind prefers to work in a new place. That's why I can easily get inspiration for writing in new places. I like to go to coffee shops to see the mood of the people inside. Also, while drinking coffee. Of course, I also like to see the activities of people on the streets. Seeing these activities made me think of many things.

Including new ideas for my food plating and photography. Many ideas come unexpectedly, but they don't come right away when I'm cooking or when I'm about to take photos. It's been a long process since I saw a lot of people's activities, as well as my surroundings.

This time I'm not going to talk about the inspiration I got at the coffee shop. I will share the results of photography that I get inspiration from my surroundings.

I got the inspiration for a style of food photography that I had never tried before. Being at my mother-in-law's house made me see a lot of new things that made up my mind and give me new ideas.

I walked around the house and saw some interesting objects. Then I connect some of these objects with the food that I will make. This makes me more focused on matching interesting objects with the food I will be photographing. In the following, I will show you my process of producing photographs and the results of the photos. I hope you guys like my new experiment.

Petals

On the first try, I used yellow flower petals for serving Vermicelli cabbage. I used petals from only 3 flowers. The flowers were not of good quality so I was allowed by the market dealer to have them for free.

To be able to get these flower petals, I went to the market in the afternoon so I found many flowers that had bloomed and were no longer of good quality when they were sold. Even though I could take the flowers home for free, I still gave money to the seller as a thank you.

74C1EDF8-1E05-434E-AE86-FCB9B16715C1.jpegFirst of all, I removed the petals from the flower. I sprinkle the flower petals into a serving plate.

For the serving of Vermicelli cabbage, I use a piece of cabbage. Then I add the vermicelli to the cabbage sheet which has a slightly curved shape, so the vermicelli doesn't spill out.

Place the cabbage filled with vermicelli onto a serving plate filled with flower petals. The result is quite a contrast. That's enough to make me happy to be able to see the results of new food photography, compared to the previous photos that used my general photo background.

The photography style with flower petals looks quite promising. But what I still have to learn is to match the color of the flower petals that will be used, with the type of food or the type of serving plate that I use. What do you think of the results of food photography using flower petals?

An Old Door

I found a door that was quite interesting to me. I saw an old wooden door in the shed behind my mother-in-law's house.

In my opinion, the door is suitable to be used as a photo background tool for photo objects that have a high object, such as drinks.

Finally, I used an old door to be used for shooting carrot celery juice. I added fresh flowers of different colors to make them more eye-catching.

Dry Leaves

Next, the next experiment came from the dry leaves of an old tree. I'm pretty excited about this one. I have a golden brown food object in the form of sweet potato balls.

There are many old trees that have old leaves. I don't know if they are really dead or just adapting to the weather.

I took some of the dry leaves then I washed them and I dried them again before I used them for food photography.

Then, I arrange the clean dry leaves on a serving plate. I chose to use a white plate to contrast with the color of the dry leaves, as well as the color of the food object itself.

Last part, add sweet potato balls on top of the leaves that have been arranged on a plate. The wind was blowing when I photographed this object. So there are some movements of the leaves that I can't predict.

I was quite surprised and amazed to see the results. It turns out that the shape and color of the dried leaves suit the main food object.

Dried Coconut Shells

Sooo, this is my favorite result actually! Thanks to the coconut shells behind the house of my mother-in-law. They look perfect for each other, they also look connected to each other.

I saw a bucket filled with dried coconut shells. Finally, I use this object for the photo background. I used a bowl of tofu mushroom soup.

I chose a bowl that has an earth tone so it can connect to the elements of dried coconut shells.

From a bucket of dried coconut shells, I spread them neatly on the cement floor. Then, I carefully placed the bowl of tofu mushroom soup in it. I had to place a few coconut shells in the proper position for a serving bowl to sit firmly on top of them.

The result is stunning. They have beautiful tones. I love them. But it doesn't end there.

I added some white flowers on the sides of the dried coconut shells. Which version do you like more? I can't choose them because both of their versions are equally stunning. Do you agree?

Thank you for reading my blog and reblog if you want my blog this time worthy of reading by others.
