Harvesting Pandan Leaves

Using natural ingredients to make cakes can be started by using garden crops to be used as ingredients for food or drinks.

Pandan leaves are one of my favorite plants to be involved in making food or drinks. Some of us refer to Pandan leaves as vanilla from Asia.

Pandan leaves have a distinctive fragrance. We usually use Pandan leaves as a natural fragrance enhancer in food, as well as a natural colorant for food or beverages.

One thing that is a positive point of planting Pandan plants is that it is very easy to breed into large and large groups. We only need to get rid of some of the Pandan Plant if this plant is too dense. Removing some plants from the group aims to avoid the absence of snakes nesting among the Pandan Leaves bushes.

For daily use, we usually add some Pandan leaves when cooking rice to make the rice smell good, especially when we buy rice that is cheap, and it requires adding fragrance so that the rice dish doesn't smell bad.

Pandan leaves From My Family Garden

I am very grateful that there is a Pandan Plant in my family garden. Sometimes I replant in my own backyard, but when they are in good condition, I remove them to avoid snakes. That's because there is a bad experience that happened in our family about Pandan leaves. There was a snake that entered the house which turned out to be nested among Pandan leaves. So, the best choice, when the condition of the pandan plant is lush, should be cleaned immediately.

This time I invite you to see Pandan leaves in my family garden. I will harvest Pandan leaves for the purpose of making desserts. I had planned to make desserts whose main ingredients were Pandan leaves. So I did have to provide Pandan leaves. I harvest Pandan leaves from my family garden.

In my family's garden, there are several natural fish ponds made of the soil without the addition of other materials. In the fish ponds, there are water spinach vegetables.

On the other side of the garden, we can also see banana plants and other plants. There are also taro plants which are also beautiful and can also be used as ornamental plants.

Have you ever seen Taro Plants, with beautiful leaves like this? Well, the leaves of taro are also edible. Usually, I make taro leaves as a wrapper for food dishes that have coconut and other vegetables as ingredients.

How To Harvest Pandan leaves

The way to harvest Pandan leaves is very easy. We can immediately pull out a few young Pandan leaves just by hand without tools. Or we can cut Pandan leaves which are a little hard with a dark green color, but are very good for natural food coloring.

I took Pandan leaves the young ones, as well as the old ones. I brought a pair of scissors to use to cut Pandan leaves.

The harvesting result of Pandan leaves this time is quite satisfactory. It doesn't take too much. I harvest according to my needs in the kitchen to make desserts.

Next time, I will show you a dessert recipe that uses Pandan leaves as the most important ingredient.

Thank you for this additional information about pandan leaves @anggreklestari. I also have them at home and before I planted them near the house but then they grow so fast so I decided to transfer them to a corner near a banana tree and today they are so fertile because I only use them occasionally.

I am not familiar with Pandan, but I do like the smell and flavor of vanilla, so I am sure I would love the smell.

The tara looks a bit like something that grows beside my porch, that I call and Elephant Ear. They may not be the same, but they look very similar. Mostly here, they are used for ornamental landscape.

I love your family garden.

Due to the similarity of our country, majority of our desserts are made of pandan leaf as well. At times, even if we don't make food from it, we like to boil them in to drinking water 😁

It is really hard to grow the pandan in the pot, probably they are wide spirit trees that love to grow freely in the garden hehe. 😁
