Making Plant Supports (Garden Activities 24 February 2024)

Once you deep dives into garden activities, you will have work that never ends but also satisfying to do!

IMG20240224185722.jpg

I really like my new decision to become a gardener. Of course, it's very tiring. But any work also makes us tired. So, being tired is not an important problem.

Being a gardener also makes you feel like you are spending free time with my late mom.

A neighbor came to me while I was doing activities in the garden. She said, "if my mother were still alive, my mother would definitely be very happy with my current garden."

I smiled, immediately remembering the times when my mother and I really enjoyed looking for beautiful ornamental plants for us to look after. Also, my mother would be very excited if I bought a beautiful new plant.

Unfortunately, our togetherness didn't last long. And, I can only reminisce about that here. Again, I'm grateful. God didn't leave me alone. God sent me a husband who always supports me, also helps me to clear the land to become my garden. My husband is also willing to not work to be able to realize my dream of having a garden right next to my room.

As you know, I have started gardening. In the process of changing empty land that was previously left as it was, it is now slowly starting to be filled with green plants.

So, today, I will show you my garden activities. Today I focused on making plant supports from bamboo material. So, stay tuned!

Tomato Supports

IMG20240224082216.jpg

The price of tomatoes is still relatively expensive in various regions in Indonesia. So, growing tomatoes is also fun if you can save money on tomatoes! But more importantly, my tomato plants are using organic fertilizer.

IMG20240224082257.jpg

In the previous post, I showed the flowers of the tomato plant. This time I am quite happy to be able to show you the fruits. I am very happy to see a view like this. 😊❤️

IMG20240224082110.jpg

At first, tomatoes supported me to make short plant supports. That's because this is also my first experience. So, I don't know if tomato plants can grow tall.

IMG20240224084349.jpg

So, I decided to repair those tomato supports by reconnecting them with bamboo sticks.

IMG20240224185722.jpg
You can see the results for yourself, tomato supports look higher than before.😊

IMG20240224185420.jpg

After that, I threw away the part at stem armpit.

IMG20240224185437.jpg

This is to avoid dividing plant nutrients into unimportant parts. So, the plant can focus on nourishing the fruit on the plant.😊

These tomatoes are beautiful and I can't wait to share them when harvest day arrives. I pray that these fruits are fine. ❤️

Green Bean Supports

IMG20240224185249.jpg

Green bean seeds have grown. 11 days today. I also decided to make plant supports for green bean plants.

I still have some small bamboo sticks. I can use this as plant supports for green beans.

IMG20240224174550.jpg

I also moved a total of 7 green beans to a location that gets full sunlight and is a permanent location until these green bean plants can be harvested.

IMG20240224183259.jpg

I also prepared a rope to connect the bamboo sticks so that they are long enough.

I thought doing this was pretty easy at first. But it turns out I was wrong. 🤣 Classified as a time consuming activity. This is because I have to connect the two bamboo sticks well so that when there is wind, the plant supports remain upright and don't fall.

IMG20240224184603.jpg

After successfully connecting one bamboo stick to another, I also stuck the plant supports into each polybag.

IMG20240224185307.jpg

Then, I joined all those plant supports with a tie at the top end so that they became one strong, upright unit.

IMG20240224185221.jpg

This is quite tall, but I plan to add more ropes for additional horizontal plant supports. It's almost dark today so I'll continue this tomorrow. See you ❤️

My grandmother has a hobby similar to this. She grows her own vegetables. Tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and different fruits.

She has a really nice garden. But I think that such work requires a lot of effort. That's why it's not a hobby that interests me much 😅.

You are very right, the work in the garden is endless, but there is also a lot of satisfaction in that.
You are doing a great job in your garden, I love the easels you are making for your tomato plants, it will be very important to support the weight of the fruits
It is what I like about agriculture, it brings back pleasant memories of the people we love and at some point these are related to gardening.

Congratulations on this garden of your own.
Enjoy the weekend dear friend @anggreklestari

Happy Sunday my dear! From my heart I tell you that it is gratifying to read an author so inspired and in love with his passions, in this case the world of gardening which I feel has always been a dream for you that today has come true.

I think the most magical thing here is that you are learning as you go along in your activities; I don't know how tall the tomato can be either, and I hope to discover it in your future publications 😅 but I do know that it is better to be safe and then the experience will make you a master in your own garden.

I loved the verse with which you start your post, I apply it to music and it is the same feeling, but my favorite part is the love you transmit about your mother and the strength your husband makes you feel. I can't believe I know such a beautiful person inside and out on the other side of the world, even virtually. I send you a hug Anggrek!...

I also have a home terrace garden where I often grow vegetables. Bamboo sticks work best for tomato plants, hope you get a lot of fruits from these plants.

I hope you know that calcium plays an important role in the growth of the tomato plant and its fruits, hence as soon as it flowers, give calcium rich fertilizer to it.😊🙏🏼

Wow. Always in awe to people who are willing to get their hands dirty just to grow plants that will soon be consumed in the household. My mom also loves to grow string beans and bell pepper too.
